Re: 1998 VMax 200 not pumping oil
the remote tank is just that, seperate, remote lonly down in the hull.
the engine tank is just that its on the engine.
factory isnt specific at all.
from the factory your motor was hiding in a crate with only a fuel line, prop attaching hardware and mounting bolts to keep it company.
boats ARE NOT like cars.
but on to the oil issue.
with the remote tank at least half full dissconect the 4 pin connector, use a digital voltmeter and check for continuity between the black and black red wires at the remotote tank switch;SWB.
if no continuity replace the switch, if you have continuity plug it back in.
this is why its nuts to have the worlds best engine and the cheapest aftermarket rigging avalible.
but many many bass an skiff boats did it.
now we are gonna try another test, take off the hood, remove the tie strap on the engine tank water trap, that little vinyl tube.
use needle nose pliers to work the tube off by pushing it,DO NOT try to pull it off.
drain the oil down past the low level mark a few inches, replace the trap.
turn the key on you should have an audible alarm and the pump?should turn on for 180 seconds. if the pump runs and the tank does not refill in 180 seconds replace the filter at the remote tank.
the correct 6y5 digital guage would have told you the information on SWB.
open the aft deck hatch and listen near the remote tank to hear the pump.
do some serious forum searching on precision blend and read how the system works.
