2.5l block had a crack!

Ok Bt. doctur gave me a block.

No way he could have known there was a crack under the water pump on the head bolt hole.

I took off the pump and timing gear cover. There it was.

Ok i'm back to square one.

Now i'm thinking a running 3.0. Can't seem to find a block.

I don't know, i just don't.

Getting cold here in Jersey strippers are gonna be running soon. Weakfish already being caught.

Freekin 3.7 motors all over.

What to do?

have you checked with JASPER ENGINES yet? they are online and have locations everywhere.

No luck on Ebay or Craigslist?

Isn't the 2.5L the same block as a 153CI GM engine used in late 60's ChevyII cars? I know the 3.0L is a odd ball and some of the 2.5L parts are different, but thought the 2.5L was an automotive block,,, I could be wrong Then again, what are the chances of find an engine from a 60's vehicle in a junk yard...

Too bad you are not on the west coast, I have an 2001 3.0 shortblock sitting in the garage. Probably wouldn't work anyway since it's a 1 piece rear main seal engine.

Thanks Dan believe me i'm looking. I might just get the whole boat with a running 3.0 and out drive.

And then put the engine and outdrive into your boat,, or ditch your boat and fix up the new one? Either way I think you will like the extra 20HP of a 3.0

Yep want the extra 20hp. Don't want to spend money i don't have.

Just wondering is a 85 merc the same transom hole as a 85 omc.
