Ok, so were on the home stretch of the skeeter project and we just did the maintenance stuff to the outboard. We replaced water pump, put in new plugs, fuel filter, greased prop shaft, etc... We hooked it up to the hose to test run it and seat everything. It started right up and ran great for about 5 minutes. It was mostly all at idle but we put in gear for short intervals at low rpms as well. Then it started to sputter out and ran out of fuel. We though the test tank had just run too low so we put some more fuel in and tried to start it again. It would turn over perfect, but wouldn't start, so we tested the lines and pump ball but it just wouldn't suck fuel. What is my problem? We're thinking that a bad fuel pump would be ridiculous because everything had been fine and the motor has only been run a few times on the trailer in the last 6 months. It was literally running perfect and then just ran out of fuel. Is there a reset procedure or weird electrical issue that could cause this? Any advice would be a huge help.

there is 3 fuel pump systems.
2 pulse lift pumps that feed fuel to the VST, one medium pressure electric pump that feeds the HP pump and the belt driven high pressure pump that steps the pressure from 50 PSI to about 625 PSI.
find out which one is missing.
the engine will run at low speeds on the electric pump alone.

Thanks. How should I check this? Are there any other causes besides pump failure?

take the hood off.
stand by the port side of the engine.
turn the key to on.
you should hear the medium pressure pump whine for about 5 seconds.

I turn the key and i hear the pump run for a few seconds. It seems like the fuel is being pumped to the vst and I hear the medium pump run when I turn the key, but it still won't start. Would the high pressure pump keep it from starting?

no, it will run with the HP pump belt off, unless the medium pressure inline filter is clogged or its a spark issue not fuel. its also possible the injector driver failed.
try spraying a bit of premix into each shutter and crank it.

We traced it to an in-line filter that was clogged. We replaced that and it fires right up and runs great, just like it did. We are taking her out tomorrow to stretch her legs. Thanks for all your help rodbolt. I really appreciate it.
