Ok, so were on the home stretch of the skeeter project and we just did the maintenance stuff to the outboard. We replaced water pump, put in new plugs, fuel filter, greased prop shaft, etc... We hooked it up to the hose to test run it and seat everything. It started right up and ran great for about 5 minutes. It was mostly all at idle but we put in gear for short intervals at low rpms as well. Then it started to sputter out and ran out of fuel. We though the test tank had just run too low so we put some more fuel in and tried to start it again. It would turn over perfect, but wouldn't start, so we tested the lines and pump ball but it just wouldn't suck fuel. What is my problem?
We're thinking that a bad fuel pump would be ridiculous because everything had been fine and the motor has only been run a few times on the trailer in the last 6 months. It was literally running perfect and then just ran out of fuel. Is there a reset procedure or weird electrical issue that could cause this? Any advice would be a huge help.
