Thanks Chuck

Re: 351w ford engine

Fuel injection would require a high pressure fuel pump and possibly a fuel return line as well. Unless it is an old school mechanical style injection system you would need a computer to run it.

Re: 351w ford engine

money solves lots of problems, depending on the FI you got. check with the guys at http://www.azspeed-marine.com/ they may have a kit.

Also Edelbrock and Holley have parts you may be able to use.

the FI will gain better fuel management and performance.

I would've checked before purchasing.

Re: 351w ford engine

Unless you have the marine ECU that goes with the FI 351w, I would just pull off the FI intake manifold and put the 4bbl manifold on. It's quite costly to buy the ECU stuff, the carb'd version is just as powerful. The main advantage to the FI is just in quicker starting and slightly better fuel efficiency.

Thanks Haulnazz ! I was thinking that myself, but I think I will get a after market intake manifold like Elederbrock or something like that, hope I spelled it right.LOL I am only going to use it in fresh water,we have several lakes around here including Lake Michigan. But other than changing the manifold I will leave it stock,it only has 26,000 miles on it and I am trading one of my black powder rifles for it A Ruger inline 50.cal stainless with a scope.going Saturday to pick it up. Again thanks for everyones help I just love Iboats!!!!!!!!!! Chuck:D

one more ? if I decided to go with the fuel injection can I just take the ECU out of the truck that I am pulling the engine out and if so what kind of job would it be to install it in my boat? just a thought

No. The truck probably has an O2 sensor. Keep it simple. Carburetor.

Do you have a cast iron timing chain cover with a fuel pump drive? May have to add an eccentric to the cam drive, or use an electric fuel pump.

yes your right! I will keep it simply and use the manifold with the holly 4 barrel on it,I wont know about the fuel pump until I pick it up Saturday, but I will get a electric pump if need be.Thanks for your help,I was leaning towards the carbuarter anyway, just needed a little more in put and I got it:D

I have the Edelbrock Performer aluminum intake on mine. I like it, and don't have any qualms about running aluminum intakes in fresh water.

I'm not a Ford guy, but you can pick up the Edelbrock Performer manifold at a lot of places.... I personally like shopping at Summit - you can see your intake here.

351w ford fuel injected

ok I just got my 1990 351W fuel-injected engine today and thought I would post a picture of it and the 351w 4-barrel carburated engine thats in my 1977 Cobalt,I have decided to put the carb and manifold on my new engine and take off all the fuel injected stuff and keep it old-school that is easier and I can deal with, sorry the pics are not very good but its snowing like hell here in Wisconsin! LOL The new engine is a Jasper remanufactued engine with 26,000 miles and runs great.Hope everything will tranfer over from my old engine to it(Manifold&carb) oh and yes I know I have to get a electric fuel pump..........any other suggestions or thoughts Thanks........if any one needs the Fuel-injected manifold and parts let me know

Ayuh,.... I could really care,... I don't do Fords...

The Tip is for your own experince here at iboats...
If you keep the info of a topic in 1 thread, nobody's gotta go huntin' to figure out what's goin' on...
This is about the same motor swap as the thread I linked to this 1 for ya....

Don also tries to run a pretty tight ship in this forum,...
I just saved 'im a few keystrokes,... My guess is, He'll combine 'em when he finds this 1...

Just sayin'.....

Edit;,... See.....:D
