Serial # 6e9 402225 el 40hp 2 cycle 2 carb. I'm having a problem with the carb settings for this motor.I just rebuilt these carbs. I have gas that leaks from the main nozzle and while idling, the motor vibrates the choke closes and kills the motor. Other post it says that I might have a faulty float or needle that doesn't sit correctly to shut off the fuel? From the schematics i can see that there is a slow jet also. Should that be adjusted or closed shut?

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: 40hp Mariner Carb question

Sounds like either a float that doesn't, or a needle that's not seating properly.

Either way, the carb needs to be removed and opened up.

Deffinately start from scratch make sure you have the right parts for your carb. Change all the o-rings while you are at it. But it does look like a needle that is in crooked.

Re: 40hp Mariner Carb question

When I open the carbs up, there is another jet inside the carbs. Should that be closed all the way or is it suppose to be set at a specific adjustment?
