I need to know if a Kiekhaefer lower unit with the stamped number of 1623 - 2022 will fit on my 1960 100hp mercury kiekhaefer. Thanks

There were no 100 HP engines in 1960, that number gear case was used on Merc-1000-900-850-800GS-700GS-650 4cyl engines, ever on the original Mercrusier unit. So if the shaft is right it should work, they are all 2 to 1 gear ratios

Thanks for the detail. So, when is the earliest a 100hp Kiekhaefer was available as the model number is unreadable but have the serial number....

Re: 60 Kiekhaefer Lower Unit

Need more help on this thread! I'll try to be as concise as possible...I've done a lot of research on these parts and this is what i've found: I agree with all the part numbers but heres the twist to this...the forward gear is a six jawed (tapered jawed) cog...alls good there, now the reverse gear 31887...i have seen two different types of these, one i seen had two cogs (square-edged) and the other had three cogs, again square edged...now heres the problem...if you research the sliding clutch for this assembly it calls for part number 30941 BUT if you view the clutch with that number it has 6 tapered jaws on BOTH sides to engage the gears! I have seen another clutch that would match this gear cog configuration but the number is 52-35919....it comes from a Mercruiser '64 '65 year model with the EZ shift IA, IB, and IC...whatcha all think..??
