Hey there all, i went through the carbs on my 68 evinrude [55] 2 stroke [3 cylinders] and cleaned all of the jets, checked hoses, float adjusments
etc. this beast still will not keep running, the plugs look in excellent condtion and i have checked spark and there is spark, I am wondering maybe I should check the quality of spark I am getting? It wants to start i can, but won't continue running for long with out starter motor engaged. meaning it really dosent run! [although I am getting exaust fumes, while turning motor with starter engaged] Maybe I should pull the flywheel and check the points, and or check the compression. I am so close to just buying a new motor I cannot even tell ya. To clarify, I mixed the gas and oil at 50-1 omc oil, tried it 1st with chock closed, then at 1/4 and 1/2 open. better results with chock 1/2 open and throttle arm pushed forward to just before it stops starter from working. Looking for ideas on what to check next as well? [last my manual will finally show up on wed] whew!
