Recieved a quote from a local marine repair shop and they quoted $700 to rebuild my 1998 Ocean Pro Johnson 150 V6 due to varnish build up. Does that sound right or am I getting the shaft? 
Completely agree.Yup bottom line, if you want to save yourself a pile of cash, get a manual, some tools and the kits.

I did the grunt work, but then brought it to the shop for a link and sync because they have the test tanks and weighted test props.
