i tried to start the motor for the first time today and it cranks over but will not start i dont know if i have to have it in neutral or not since its the hydro-electric shift and i had to use toggle switches to make it shift when i cranked it i know it went into reverse but im not so sure about neutral when i hit the switch for neutral it went backwards but real slow when i hit the switch for reverse it went faster but either way it wouldnt start. and on my remote there is a lever that you pull up to start and down to run when i put it in the start position it wouldnt do anything no crank or anything please help im losing my mind here.

some of the controllers had a neutral lock out switch, when the neutral button was pushed, there was a slide that activated the start circuit. even though the motor defaulted to forward. you also may have the kill wire in the wrong place.

this is the 3 wire circuit on mine the blue green and then there was a power wire but i wasnt sure which the power wire was so i connected them to the purple/green wire as my power wire where an how do i disable the kill switch if it has one and i checked the lever where it says start and run to see if there were any wires on it but there isnt what else should i look for in there

The stack of purple wires at the ignition switch feeds everything, ignition, shift, choke, tach, whatever. Your shift should go to the purple/green wire, and there should be an additional shift feed to the key switch purple, with the blocking diode in between.

The fast idle lever does just that, increases the throttle a bit for starting and warmup. Yes, for good reason, it won't turn over if you lift it too high. That would be like floorboarding the accellerator in your car to start the motor (ROAR).

So by now you should understand that none of this affects the motor running or not. One of the purple wires from the key switch powers the ignition. No other switches are in that circuit.

yeah i was just hoping it would be something simple like a neutral safety switch stopping it from starting when i get back from dinner ill put the new plugs in and check the fire and go from there would old old gas cause it not to start i already found that the plug in the fuel line that goes into the tank was cracked and leaking so i just put a new one on but when i went to check it the battery was drained so ill have to wait till i get back with the new plugs and gas to try it again cause it on charge thanks and ill let ya know what i find in a lil while
