Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy

Thanks for the tip on the 1985 Conroy thread. I didn't want to reply there and start a hijack. I have the bubble buster. I have tried applying resin and letting it tack up before I applied the 1708 and I have tried applying the 1708 while it is still wet. I still get the bubbles. On my small tabbing jobs I use a wet out board and stack 3 or 4 layers of cloth. After they are wetted out I peal them off and put them where I want them. I haven’t had a problem with bubbles in those areas. So long story short, I am not getting enough resin in some spots. Thank you.
I have been following your project and can’t wait for the gel coat episodes (depending on how your poll comes out of course). I will need to do some if I ever get the inside done. You are doing an incredible job. That is going to be one nice looking boat.

np CL...I just thought I'd share what has helped for me...if you look at my early attempts you'll notice alot of bubbles...It gets better with practice...that is a good idea on using a wetout board..wish I'd heard about something like that when I was tabbing...I started just laying my tabs in my paint tray...then applying..did the same thing I guess...got lots of resin on, but think I wasted alot too....fine line there..wet but not too wet...

Thanks for the kind words..I too am excited to get the gel coat going...soon I hope...we'lll see....

When sanding fiberglass you have to have many layers...it is under there...

Humpday eve update....

Took out my sanding block...put some new Norton 80 grit paper on it...started sanding the remnants of paint left where I sanded last night...1.5 hrs worth....not too shabby...oh and I managed to get the fronts of the consoles done...

Much easier on the feet...standing next to the cap vs. squating on the edge of the hull!

Wood is a cool dude. :D
The cap is looking great. A little change in pace on the sanding seams to make it a little easier.
It was great talking to you the other night.
Have a good Hump Day.

Humpday update...

Spent the evening supervising the yard work...The Mrs. was going to mow this weekend...then for some odd reason got started tonight and couldn't stop....I helped a little....picking up sticks...almost time for the pecans to start dropping...cleaner the yard..easier they are to pick up...and that means boat money :)
