Re: '78 Ebko Lebaron - Therapy
What a weekend...
Got my network cable pulled through the attic...Admrial is happy she doesn't have a cable running through the kitchen now...ya I know, could have went wireless.....
Decided to pull the boat out and wash the grime off her....
Got the inside cleaned out...
Washed the outside as best as I could...looks a little better..
Closer inspection shows it was tough getting her clean...
This got me thinking, I have to sand anyway, why not sand instead of cleaning?
So started sanding...and the hamster starting running around in my head...
Hey why not flip her over to make the sanding easier?
OK...where to flip...and where to store? Admiral suggested a spot out behind the house...I thought that could work..but I got the garage, why not try and get it flipped in there????
Obstacles for having the hull flipped in the garage....
1. 8' ceiling height...boat is 7' wide...not much room for error...and the hoist would need more than a foot of that 8'....tricky...
2. Driveway into the garage slopes...if I build a set of gantry type cranes like I had before, the center of gravity would not be optimal on the bow end...
3. Even if I was able to flip it in the driveway, how would i get it back into the garage?
I really want to be able to have her in the garage....so talked myself into it....
Got some supplies...
Started on the base...
Sure hope those casters hold up!...still alot of work to go...
Little video..
Have an idea on how to make the cranes...looking for some input from you all...
See anything wrong with making the uphill one slanted to make the upright vertical to gravity? I was thinking I could use 2x4 straps to keep the angle strong...the down hill one will be level....just don't want the top one toppling over...
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
