I've got a 79 evinrude 100 with power tilt n trim. Had the unit working great, but now it will trim / tilt up just fine, but on the down range you can hear the solenoid and the motor running just no movement. Where do I start? Thanks for any help
Alright, checked the fluid with motor tilted all the way up. The motor will still act like it is wanting to trim down and the fluid seems to bind up like somthing is not letting the motor off tilt or let the trim tabs retract either. Thanks for any help or suggestions. Grant
I did Chechen that, but great idea!! I am afraid I'm gonna hafta pull the motor to get to most of the ports on the tilt trim assy to fix the problem I thanks for any help
Usually the factory service manuals have a tilt/trim fluid flow diagram inside. You may be able to follow the flow from that and determine which valves are the up and which are the down.
OK everyone, I pulled the t&t assembly off the motor the trim pistons wouldn't go down with the trim motor but I pulled the "trim check valve" labeled with a "c" and on the far right looking at the back of the unit and the trim pistons went down. Would that check valve just be bad? And how would I clean it or repair it? Or maybe the "trim down pump relief valve"located under the motor is bad? Thanks for the help!
