brief history: i wanted to attach a ski/tube rope so went to the ski forum and asked about different types of set ups. they were very helpful. one guy told me i could use my tie down rings with a self centering harness.
so i go outside to check them out and i thought they were tight but when i pulled on them the transom flexed and it had me a little worried. so when i had more free time i went out and put a wrench on them and tightened them up. well now they dont flex anymore but it looks like there isa .25" crack next to the port side ring, it looks like its superficial, maybe just in the paint.
on a boat that has not been taken good care of( ive only had it about a month)my questions are-
on a boat that hasnt been taken good care of and has absolutley no clear coat left. is there any thing i should do to strengthen the transom?
can i get some rings with longer threads and run them through some wood for extra support?
should i look for a more suitable place to put a ski set up?
should i not intend on skiing on a boat this old that, from the look of it has probably set in the sun most of its life?
sorry for the novel, thanks for any help and advice it would be very appreciated!
