Only problem with used stuff....ya really don't know what your getting.... I can pressure test the drive to check seals and pop the top and look at the drive and driven gears but that's about it.... May get lucky and have no problems or end up with another trashed drive in a few hours. What else could I look for in a used drive EZ? Tips on making sure it's a good deal?

I did find a complete gear and bearing/seal kit for 250 online to rebuild...

Just like a used car when it starts to nickle dime you it's time to go and the used parts thing is a crap shoot the best bet is SEI with the no ?'s asked warrante you can't beat it me personally never have re-built an o/d but i know i could i wouldn't chance it these days when money is tight. You could also look into the guys at aftermarketmarine.com they sell reconditioned o/d's may be worth a shot good guys down thier. Hope all works out in your favor Good Luck! Oh and by the way those are whats left of the exhaust shutters.

Thanks FF That's where I was looking for the gear bearing and seal kits..

Ya I kinda figured it was my shutters.....well that's a cheap/quick fix at least.....OH I better shut my mouth...... Ya know with my luck:facepalm:

OK so the new SEI unit is on it's way Maybe by next weekend we can get back on the water......hope the stripers are still runnin! I need to catch some so WOG can get some fillets.... I know he's jonesin for some

Glad to hear your gonna be back in the water real soon. If it makes you feel any better on my pre season anal checks my trim limit was givin me fits but avoided replacing them by rippin it apart and there are replaceables even re-workable copper brushes inside that just needed cleaned and the set screws tightened then upon 1st engine start up my lower end water pump extension tube melted so I'm waitn on freed up funds just to get on the water. So ironically to say right now we are in the same boat. So post back with a pick of that new add on I wanna see it and the differences.

Just call me MR JONES!!!!!!! I am Happy to hear that you're on the way to bein "On The WATER AGAIN!!" I am gunna be doin some GLASSIN on the BF this weekend so I can get her back on the water as well.

Ok just checked UPS tracking and the outdrive is here in NJ ...... sure wish they delivered on Sat..... Oh well Monday will have to do! I still have to order a new shift cable....might as well do it since I have been having stalling problems shifting in and out of gear. Might as well get a new gimbal bearing while I'm at it and the exaust shutters that I found in the exaust port at the drive.... I love my Bust Out Another Thousand!!! Well this time it's Two Thousand!!

I'll post up some pics next weekend when we put this all together

Yup a happy camper for sure! Now I'm waiting for the gimbal bearing,shift cable,exaust shutters,1 brake assy,hour meter and a few trailer rollers! Should all be in this week Feels like Christmas WOOT!!

If you're as good at MEK -A - NEKKIN as you were at Boat Restorin' then you WILL be fishin on Saturday. I fully expect some fish on Dry Ice to be headin to Okie Land in the Near Future.

OK the shift cable,gimbal bearing,exhaust shutters are all in. Got the new brake assy installed but found other issues while checking the other wheel bearings....seems the old seal race on the spindles have pits and rust.....soooooooooo it ripped up the seals and water is getting in....guess I'll be doing something about that...the seal and race savers if I can find them.

Works great on the muffs.....we'll see in 2 or so weeks when I get the trailer sorted out....seems to never end....
