also thinkin about that trim,
not sure what width the waterproof version of the rgb's will be but the current version is just under 7/16ths.
i think (if i remember correctly) your trim has a taper to it skinnier on the top
if i angle the mounting channel, 1/2in thick it should be ok
hope to play around later tonight with the tablesaw n some scrap wood

can't wait to see the new light install on yours

the work today went good,
i didn't get as far as i woulda liked, but progress is always good

so as I was sayin earlier t
his is what your hull looks like when you dont clean it.
dumb yes.
so now its time to get r done
before pics

before004.jpg
[/IMG]
so here comes the pittsburgh super secret hull cleaning chemical "patent pending :Dlol"
ssssshhhhh dont tell anyone
cheap and it does the job
before006.jpg
[/IMG]
started off with a 50/50 mix
still to thick so i added more peroxide
closer to 60/40 sprayed much easier
i didn't have accsess to water at the shop so thats where the garden sprayer comes in
when i do the rest of the hull the garden sprayer will spray
the pittsburgh super secret hull cleaning chemical "patent pending :Dlol"
and a power washer will take it off

before007.jpg
[/IMG]
spray it on wait 15 min
gently agitate, like you would wipe a table, no pressure. i used a scotchbrite pad
NOTE; I HIGHLY SUGGEST TAKIN THE WEDDING RING OFF
ask me how i know.

so on goes another coat of the pittsburgh super secret hull cleaning chemical "patent pending :Dlol"
no agitation this time sit again for 15 min
hose off and pow
before011.jpg
[/IMG]
before012.jpg
[/IMG]
before013.jpg
[/IMG]
did great work in a lil time
no effect on the gelcoat
just on the wedding ring:eek:.

as you can see i have lots of bunged up screws etc that used to hold something.
i got screws here i got screws there i got screws everywhere
and lots of silicone:mad: gooped everywhere
fish pinger will go byby and i will mount the new one in the correct angle.
yep i will show pics

i'll prolly take everything, including the gimbal mount
trim tabs etc... so i can make sure that all will be protected correctly.
that silicone scaaared me, it at least did its work till now
transom is solid i paid particular attention around the nasties all seems well

so the next step is to take all the bung off and repair all the screw holes
any thoughts on what to use?

i'll have the mechanic install the gimbal (gettin all the bellows and bearing done asswell)
then remount tabs, new pinger , and install the underwater led's wooo

i think the next chance to get back there could be sunday or tuesday weather permitting of course

heading over to see if Budd(my hero, lol) got er done tonite
see ya all later

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

I would fill those holes with some epoxy or get some Marine-tex. 5200 will fill the holes and seal it if your looking for short cuts.

The stern cleaning looks great man! Now get some 3m finish compound and some wax. :D

Your transducers and other things can all be mounted on the same side, usually the starboard side is best for transducers because of prop wash interferance on the port side. I would bring them all through the same hole and bound them together and then its clean looking. If you need a pic I can provide one. ;)

The waterproof leds are also just shy of 1/2". Wait until you see hw the trim I put on the bow turns the light down instead of out. I will be posting some pics shortly.

Last but not least, if you press the little quote symbol down at the right hand corner below the persons post you are addressing, we will know who you are responding to. I'm sure you would like for others opinions as well. There are alot of talented people on this site and you should take advantage of all of them, lol

yep thats what i was thinking!
theres not enough to learn how to make white pb:eek:fear of the unknown.lol
thanks that went easy today, luv the stuff.

since i have a few days i wana give everyone a chance to chime in.:D
i'll be doing a bunch of screw holes on the stern as well as a few plugs and holes from(i dont know what) on the top of the swim platform.
i also want to tighten the mounting screwholes on the ladder(a bit wobbly)

as far as the mounting goes i guess i usually followed kinda whats allready there in place
the smaller boats i've owned everything was on starbord so if the driver was plump:eek: the pinger would stay in the water lol

the underwaters i got are 6" x 4" with one on each side that tightens space left for the pinger and the pilot tube.
plus i wana leave some room for a second set next year(single 2.5"x6") lol
so i guess i'll place led's first then start addin the other stuff

I'm going to order a couple of those underwater lights today, lil buggy. Because I don't have the stern drive to deal with, I'm thinking about the 10.25" x 2.5" to spread the light out a little. ...and then I started thinking about maybe doing 4 of the small 6" long ones and space them out...and then I thought maybe do 3 with one in the center...and then I thought maybe do the center one in the big square size like yours and the outer ones do the long 10.25"...

Blue????...I like blue

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

well i did a test light in the shop above water and the ones i got
at 10 feet it gave a real bright spot abought a foot across round with a little deflection
but it has the punching ability to penetrate my home waters
besides my molded in platform is a good 2+foot

sooo without an outboard or outdrive
and not sure about your platform depth
i think that i would go with a ds (square) centered
and one single about a foot to a foot n a half on either side(to save funds)
,,,,,,,,
a double single and 2 double long on either sides 1.5 to 2ft out( spending a lil more)
that way you have the punch but also a glowing orb to accompany

if ou got the scratch to burn
go all out
2 double silgle each 6 in from center transom for the punch
then 2 double long about a foot n a half out on either side extending the glow

given my luck
i chose to buy 2 at a time
i got more upgrades to do. lol

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

thinken ahead,hopefully tuesday,
i'll have some time to play with some wood n the saw:eek:for the trim for the rgb's(led's)
rgb's guestamate width at 1/2in

trautmann12025.jpg
[/IMG]around the seat part of the L under the cusion
i am thinking
either
3/4"x1" trim 1" being what you will see no tapers anywhere
or
i would really like to use 1/2"x3/4 and angle the lights inward with a bottom angle cut out,,, (not a channel)
to skinny it up a bit.
i know the lights will be pointen at the seatbase and not the floor as much
however, then i can leave the carpet down and get the glow off the seatbase:)Dwarm tootsies for the admiral)
my concern there is hotspots cast upon the seatbases

whatrya guys thinken?
either way it looks like the line under the L seat(cockpit) is a done deal
i'm sure that cockpit light gotta go, but if skinny enough? not sure
i guess time will tell
and just have to get the rest to conform to the new style
trautmann12027.jpg
[/IMG]
under the trim on the drivers side would also lend itself to skinnier trim
i didn't take measurments of how thick it is tho:facepalm:

so tell me whadyathink?

I'm not the expert on these RGB lights, but I would think that angling them back in would give you a hotspot just below the seat. It looks to me as though you have good room to do the 3/4 x 1, notching out the back side for the lights and then match that profile on the drivers side. Be cool to add a strip in that driver's side cutout too I think, or maybe just re-position that cockpit light in that space.

You can still leave the carpet down. The color will come from the sides and you'd still light the floor.

Thanks for the advice. I'm diggin' the blue. With twin inboard props on mine, I may slide mine outboard some to light the prop-wash.

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

You don't need to angle the lights towards the walls of the seats. You will be surprised at just how much light these leds put out, especially when reflectiin everwhere. You probably will not need anything more int he cockpit than around the seating shining downward. I said before I would mount one inside your cubby near the helm just as an accent. Hide it up at the top shining towards the back wall. this will give it a nice effect int he cubby.

The blue underwater lights will look great. I went with the white simply because they would go with any color I chose to light the interior with. I would like to have some rgb underwater lights, but they are WAY to pricy.

ok so been thinkin about your set up
imho ether it be twin outdrive/outboards/or twin inboards like you have.
better set up for everything is 3 lights one in center(larger) and one on the outside of each drive.
that way at rest you get the spreadthe 3 lights with the punch of the center
and wile running the lights in between the wake humps will light the roostertails better

if your gonna go best,
i would mount 4 lights 6" to a foot on both sides of both drives
optimum spread and optimum roostertail lighting:D

i am choosing a 2 stage process 2 at a time
different years so it dont hurt soo much on the wallet:eek: lol
although i only have 1 outdrive i'll put stage 2 out further toward the outside
hope it helps

Thanks,
agreed ^^^^on the lil cubby by the drivers seat
the reason i was thikin of the angle was to skinny up the trim a little bit.
allthoughe long section can support 3/4 in trim
the back part of the L is really kinda flat more or less and the trim will stick out.
actually looks kinda like a mistake or add on,,, weird ya know
anyway to revisit
good here
trautmann12026.jpg
[/IMG]
not so much back here
trautmann12025.jpg
[/IMG]
yep that left part of the L is why i was tring to skinny it up
cause quite franly it does look like a mistake or just weird
and once i add trim if i dont change it
it'll look like shingles
i'll have to dig in on that,
if i gotta redo that piece to make it conform so be it
however i really didn't wana get into uppolstry ,,,,yet:facepalm:
any ideas?

Re: 89 Fiesta Vee 250 setbacks, projects, and upgrades!

sorry,^^^^^
to make that lil shingled piece run square:eek: in the front of that L seat
like it should have been
any trim i added under there would make it look worse than it allready looks
i suppose i could open up the vinyl in the front and add a piece:eek:
but ya i allready know,
i'm gonna have to tear into the upholstry to see why that was done like that to get it done right with the overhang and all.
i guess i just gotta be careful
the topsides of the cushions are in great condition
i dont wana pull it up:mad:
yep i'm pouting now

I gotta ask, lil buggy, are you hitting enter every time you reach the end of a line in the reply box? This is not necessary.
