Well, I have decided to add more foam. Was going to leave it out under doses under windshield, but I am making my subwoofer truck style boxes permanent and foam them in behind and around them. After careful looking I am worried it will float, but not level....so this makes me feel a lot better also structurally.

Another guy posting www.veada.com I checked them out and they are very comparable to wise, but you can pick a lot of different colors. I like the lounge seats but I wanted white will black accents. They are right at 300.00 a piece.

Well it figures I only got to take two days off!! I got a good bit done on those two days though. Got the splash well wood cut along the inside dry fitted then coated with resin. I got the two rear seat boxes on sides made and a coat of resin on them. I also got front seat box tops cut out and they are waiting on some resin. Have a video to upload later when not on my phone.

I am thinking about telling work I am leaving the country for a week!! Maybe then I will get some time off. Going to glass in rear seats this eve, and maybe pieces around splash well.

I need to find a local place that sells gelcoat so I can make my repairs under hull where I got grinder happy a while back.

I know what you mean. I got a total of about 15hrs of boat work in w/ a week off & July 4th:eek: The heat killed most of the forward progress. But it did move forward.

Sounds like you've made some great progress. Hmmm Gelcoat... Is there a Composites One close?

Re: 93 Bayliner 1800 Capri Outboard Restoration Project

Had a friend help for a few hours tonight and he installed the front seat base tops. He was using PL on just the flat pieces and screwing down, and I went behind and used PB along the hull line. Right as I got done he mentioned he put PL on side also going to the hull. How bad of a problem is this? The under side where base top meets hull has no PB so I am hoping the PL can vent out that way. What ya think?

Thanks for the link. I would only be concerned bc of the chemical reactions going on as each cures. I don't know if they will interfere w each other so to speak. I think WOG or oops would have good advice w that. Either way don't panic till you hear from them. There is enough to worry about ha

Re: 93 Bayliner 1800 Capri Outboard Restoration Project

finally made an update video.

nice job with the fillets. i got into the habit of having pb in one bucket, and resin in another. then at one time i would lay my fillet, brush some resin on it, lay down my previously cut cloth, and then brush or roll more resin on it so the cloth would push right onto the fillet and i could see excess gently squeeze out.. have it a physical bond but i figure it would also promote a better chemical bond, but more importantly saved time ha

Re: 93 Bayliner 1800 Capri Outboard Restoration Project

Found a guy just down the road that builds go cart bodies and he gave me a 1/2 a 5and gallon of resin, 1/2 a 5 of already mixed PB just add catalyst, and a 1/4 5 of black gel coat to do my splatter with. Then he gave me a ton of info which was so helpful. As I left I said how much do I owe you. He said oh 20 bucks. So I handed him 40 and said thanks.

Fyi....he said HK marine had the highest quality gel coat and sold worldwide. I paid 137.00 for 5 gallons of white. He said he would be surprised if it took twp coats to cover.......we will see.

Only have two pieces left to PB and tab!! That Valspar reinforced slow putty is awesome! It is a pain to mix but it spreads so snotty and even, and mixing 2% gave me almost 45 min. To work with it. Wish I had known about this stuff ahead of time. Really hope to start gel coating tomorrow.

Thanks for the tip on seats. I have mine ordered as well. Sucks that they are so far out though. Oh well it will give me time to get ready for them.

Wow! There is so many little things that slow you down. Went ahead and made seat bases for my old lounge seats. They are completely stationary, but it will do for this summer.

Re: 93 Bayliner 1800 Capri Outboard Restoration Project

just wanted to tell everyone I splashed my boat last night at 8pm. Then took it out all day today for my little girls (Hello Kitty) beach birthday party!! It is amazing how well the boat rides. It is SO solid!!! It just goes right through the waves and you can even feel they are there. Also my boat is like a ROCKET it will come out of the hole almost twice as fast as before as it is so much lighter without all the water soaked wood and foam.

I still have several cosmetic things to finish, and my stereo, but I am so pleased with how it worked today.

FYI.....will post video of splash very soon!
