They took ours away when we got to basic, I think it was 2 weeks in before our first phone call.

I've been in ****ty locations in the Air Force and been in the best locations. And for all the guys that hate on the Air Force, us maintainers hate the rest of the Air Force to.

You have been a victim of one service bad mouthing another. Do a search and you will see it is a lie and a rumor. I am sorry to hear that the lies are flying around. I have no respect for people who need to resort to that level.

As Sergeant Hulka said in Stripes, "Lighten up, Francis". The five branches of the military have been jabbing at each other since the beginning. Back in 73 our Marine squadron spent 3 months on board the USS Pensacola as a part of a NATO exercise. The Sailors and Marines were always jabbing back and forth with each other. It was done in good fun and no one ever got mad about it. Now, let some civilian make a derogatory remark, and that was a different story.

i lived near 3 usaf bases in uk and spent many nights in the galaxy club as the drink was cheap but im unsure that the statement of "best looking women" is true.....but the beer was cheap

Didn't they get better looking as the night wore on???

i honestly felt sorry for some off the newbys....first time away from home and our drinking law is 18 so they were wasted then they get to wake up next something that use to look like debi moore until the beer wore off.....good times. i hear the officers club was a better hunting ground with the right bait (u.s passport) but you had to behave in there so we spent most of the time in the galaxy club.
use to take the airmen and women to the cider house after they had had 2-3 pints of 13-20% apple juice i use to be able to drive them past security with a nod and a wave to get them back to the barracks but thats all changed now and security is real tight so theres not so much interaction between the base and the locals as there use to be.

Great point. Among each other..... we tease and poke fun but let someone from the outside (non military) attack or comment and watch out...... how quickly service-people team up is admirable!

Yeah, as I get older I show no favoritism for any branch. I am respectful of all of them and when I hear about young men and women who are in, scheduled to go in, or who have served I show a great deal of pride and respect.

I support all the services ;)

I remember entire buildings that were stuffed full of pay-phones....... I have not seen a pay phone in a long time.

Glenn...... I am one of those people who believe any soldier should have the right to drink .....regardless of age :)

LOL Do the older soldier remember the Flamingo Club at Ft Dix  :D My first taste of the old 3.2% beer yuck! Thankfully I got assigned to Europe and discovered real beer and ale........:p

I worked with an AF Capt on the upgrade of the tilt rotor hydraulics cooling system on V-22. She was the one who referred to herself as part of the Chair Force being behind a desk. I thought it was cute.
