Very sad day here in Central Michigan.
I had to put the boat up for sale thanks to the wonderful economy.
Received a 20% cut in pay a couple months ago and we just keep sliding backwards.
I had been waiting years for a small carlson and when I finally get it, I have to sell it.
I think I'll go cry in my beer now.

Sorry didn't mean to bring you down, hope your day was much better.

That really sucks Tub. Hopefully it's only temporary. The good thing is there will be other boats. Try and keep your chin up. I'm know there are better days ahead. Cheers, I'll have a beer for ya.

I am so sorry to hear that. I have many contacts in Michigan being just across the border.
Check your P.M. box.

I'm sorry to hear that, I know it can be rough. Did you ever hear back from the company in Jacksonville? Hopefully they call with some good news. My prayers are with you, things will look up soon.

Re: A very sad day for me

I applied for 3 different positions in Florida with the same company, one was in Panama City and two were in Spring Hill. The position in Panama city has been filled the other two have not.
I will receive an e-mail if the positions are filled.
No news is good news.

I will have another boat next summer(even if it kills me).
Its just very depressing here in Michigan.

I got laid off in February and can empathize with your situation.Between cutting out and cutting back we are managing to keep our heads above water.

Having to sell your boat is a last resort I am sure. But still totally sucks the bag.I feel bad for you!!!!

Hey man, sorry to hear, possibly the thought the summer boating season is drawing to a close and folks are thinking winterizing can console you....if you plan to get something else next year this could be nothing more than a winter break! :D

I'm hoping for better days ahead for you.

In agreement with what everyone else has said, things will look up eventually. I wish you didn't have to sell your boat, especially a Carlson but you got to do what it takes. I really hope good news comes your way soon.

Re: A very sad day for me

that sucks man. I should have sold my boat several times by now, but I have still managed to hang onto it. It and my truck are about all we got right now lol. I got laid off from 4 jobs this year, its tough. Things are starting to turn around, and like others said there are other boats. Look at it this way, in another month it would go in storage and sit anyways.

Thanks for all the support guys.
It means a lot in times like these.
I have always done handyman type work on the side, so when things got tight I could always make a buck, but I can't even do that anymore.

I feel your pain, Things certainly have been hit and miss for us here. Thank god the wife picked up work, it keeps us going between projects.
What kind of skills do you have?
What have you done for work over the last few years?

I have been driving garbage truck for the last 6 years, but I am looking to get back into property management which is my strength.
I started taking care of my dad's apartments when I was 10 and did that pretty much up until my temporary career change 6 years ago.
I have worked as a tech, maintenance supervisor, and maintenance area director.

I have always felt that one has to be diversified, because you never know when your going to get kicked in the butt.
It sounds like you are looking for work away from home? are you planning on moving?
is there any areas were the economy has picked up some?

I would relocate because many property management companies like you to live on site.
I would keep my house here in Michigan though, it is on a beautiful lake and would make a nice vacation spot.
Besides I have 2 girls in community college and this would give them free rent and I would have someone to look after the house.
We would like to relocate to a warmer climate and would prefer Florida but anything near water is good.
Relocation to Florida was always our retirement plan, but the economy in Michigan has pushed that timeline forward a bit.
Michigan was in a recession a year before the rest of the country, due to our pos small business tax system, and will probably take a year longer than the rest of the country to come out of the recession.
My 22 year old son flew out to Wyoming to look for work this week.
Wyoming,Colorado and that general area seems to be the best bet right now.
The problem in Wyoming is so many people are headed out there right now there is a severe housing shortage.

You shouldnt have trouble finding a cheap fix upper that will get you back on the water. Thats what counts. Hope by spring in spite of job cut backs you can be. Theres plenty of folks here that will help any way they can with any project questions Im sure.

Re: A very sad day for me

Yes I will be looking for a cheap boat next year.
Not sure if I can make it happen in the spring, but I am sure by mid-summer I will have something.
If any of you are interested in a small carlson mine is up on e-bay and cl.
All the major work has been done, pretty much all it needs is the metal flake redone.
Is going to go cheap in the next few days.
