So I have had an issue with getting some bad gas and added an inline fuel filter. Now the motor will only run for a minute then dies after loosing prime. Did I install to big of a fuel filter for the small fuel pump on these motors
That would probably be hard to answer without knowing what filter you put on it, but I really don't know enough about the filters to be sure. My guess would be that you probably just have a bad connection and are drawing air into the system though. Are you sure your connections are good?
I'd guess that the pressure drop across the filter may be too large for the
vacuum these small fuel pumps can generate, so the fuel pump is starving
for fuel.

Don't think the filter could be too big. I run my 4 hp kicker on the same big Racor that I run my 35 hp on. I think it's rated for 25 gal per hour. It may actually be too small but most likely a connection is sucking air like others have said.
