My 14yr old (Hayden) is progressing with his guitar and singing lessons.
He plays John Foggarty (Credence C. W.), and Roy Orbison DVD's, and belts out along with them.
He now wants to know how he can listen to the the DVD thru an earpiece, (so he can sing with Foggarty), but have just the music only coming thru the speakers....so if you are in the room, you will hear the music from the DVD, him singing, and him playing............no Foggarty singing.
This has come about as he has seen a lot of entertainers (on his DVD's) with ear-pieces, that he reckons they are not just ear plugs.
He goes to a band practice occasionally (adults) and listens to them trying to get everybody to a practice.
Then he went to a Tavern with us and there is a bloke (one man band) with good backing music, singing and playing to it, with a 'thing' in his ear.
We have asked at music shops, and those blokes really confuse you with technical terms to the point Hayden and I are lost.
What i think I have learnt so far is: he is looking for something that will play a DVD, but split the music down one wire and the vocal down another.
Is there such a 'thing'?
What do these one man bands use?
What is that ear-piece entertainers wear and what does it do?
Does any one know?
Cheers
Phillip
