What's the maximum boat weight I can use with an 18hp outboard two stroke?
I want to be able to plane and carry 2 or 3 adults, something like a 15 ft Boston Whaler or similar?
I was also thinking a large aluminum 16 to 18ft deep V, I fish the near shore in the ocean, when calm.

Re: Boat size

Find a boat that is rated for 20-25hp, cadriver. That is likely to be a 14-16' tinny.

The Boston Whaler classic 15s are rated for 70hp and need at least 50hp to perform satisfactorily.

So I guess It have to be an aluminum boat or a rib inflatable.
What fiberglass brand and size can perform well with 18hp?

Re: Boat size

14-15 open fisherman. no frills. this is an example 14' tinny 15hp rude, controls mounted at center seat. (this was my toy). boat 300, me 200. motor & gas 150 total 650lbs. it would run with just me around 25 mph, add a 200 lbs person, cut it to 18mph, 3 people 14mph.
