Hey, are those 12' boats? How difficult is it to roll on the wheels?

you heard me scream at the last second right? that is because it got to heavy lol. We found out by pushing instead of pulling makes it about 40% easier on said or up and down a ramp. Before we needed to stop 2-3 times, this time we can get it up and down without stopping. Bottom line: with all the gear and the 6G tank it is heavy! Try to keep all your gear all the way back so the wheels can support it. the 2 red are Saturn 365's, white one is a 12ft azzuro mare. and mine is a 11.6ft Zoom

The wheels, did you buy them off amazon, are they kayak wheels? Or did you build them from scratch?

they are called launch wheels. i purchased the cheapest wheels i could find on ebay for $75.00 i believe. They tend to run from 75- 200 depending on the quality. I blew one of the inner tubes due to over inflation and replaced both wheels with a bearing type wheels. People were saying the salt water would lock them up and that I would have to keep greasing them. maybe over 5 years without use. I have used them twice and found them to be better then original. Anyone tells you otherwise you can send them packing.

If you put a towel through the ring and grip the towel it's a much easier tow from the front end.

Do any of you have a 6hp on your boat, if so, how does it handle?

I had a 6hp on mine before. it planed fine but couldn't keep up to the speed demons so I upgrade to a 15. So far I have the fastest Sib in Jbay. Some people say a two stroke 15 is quicker then my 4 stroke but I beg to differ

awesome to see you guys heading off on Jamaica Bay
& totally rock'n it out

@ Rakumi
there are already a few threads on lauch wheels on this site
here is a link to one of the ones from earlier this year
http://forums.iboats.com/forum/gene.../inflatables-and-ribs/659423-launching-wheels
(hmmm..., I see you posted in that thread, so maybe never mind :)

@weimed
did you ever use a gps to see just how fast your 6 HP was on your SIB?
solo, my 6 HP makes about 8 or 9 MPH, then again I am about 2 people big.

If you remove the plastic cover on those wheel bearings and replace original grease with waterproof wheel bearing grease, will last for years to come. Do you 4 live near each other, must your outings be planned well in advance ? Probably will pay a visit to a friend that lives in NY. If that happens before summer ends, could join you guys for a water outing, some drinks after and share boating experiences with Fab 4 team.

Happy Boating

@Johnny, Do not remember testing speed I believe 9mph sounds correct.
@Searider, the funny part was that outing with the four of us was not really planned I just posted an outing on here and every joined up. The only really close ones to the launch is Sinister and I, Fedor has a decent drive to get here and Pascal managed to swing by. It was awesome though. I been trying to arrange another meet but so far been unsuccessful. If you come down I am sure everyone will want to come and meet the Infamous Sea Rider. Even Fall is fine. We will be fishing till it hits 50 degrees

Johnnyrude, how big is your boat and is it a 4 or two stroke? I've been thinking of downsizing to a 6 for weight. I have a 1980 9.9 Johnson 2 stroke now. I can lift it no problem but wanted a newer 4 stroke. I know the 9.9 4 strokes weigh in close to 90. Not sure if a 6 will be enough though. I have the Saturn sd365.

Gotmehooked here is a video of the 11 foot Saturn boat with a 5hp motor http://youtu.be/qjXuyI_Tg7A I have an 11 foot Zodiac with a 5hp 4 stroke My 4 stroke weighs the same as a 9.9 2 stroke. The hp limit for my boat is 10hp 10 mph sounds about right . I'm too old to lift a 15 hp 4 stroke. For me that motor would be a trailer queen.

I saw that video, thanks. The boat didn't have much gear in it so it was hard to get a good idea of how well it would push a fully loaded boat. It comes down to how much you want to carry. If you dread carrying it all the time, you will never go out. I don't care to go real fast, just want to get to point B at a reasonable pace. I don't know if it's worth getting rid of my 2 stroke 9.9 for a newer 6hp 4 stroke to save 20-30 pounds.

How will you save 20 to 30 pounds. A 6 pound 4 stroke weighs the same as a 9.9 hp 2 stroke
