Finally, after six months, survey, sea trial and a snafu when the owner had to order a new title (she lost the original), Linda and I paid the rest of the money this morning. Monday I'll register it with the DMV, then figure out when to make the 80 mile voyage to my slip. I uploaded (I hope it worked) a few Q & D pics that I took for the insurance company...

Nice looking rig! Good to see someone's already gone through and removed all of the BS decals. One of the first jobs on my list this season.

That looks exactly like our boat, only ours is called a 280 sedan, and its 28 feet. I think yours is too.

What power and leg does it have? We've got a Volvo 740 (454) with duoprop. Previous owner's "mechanic" had the oil lines to the filter backwards, so engine destroyed on our very first run! Rebuilt it in my garage so I know the job's done right now. Bullet proof ever since.

We've had ours for 3 years now, lots of fun.

Can be a little confusing, so not sure if you and I have the same model. Up through 1992 the 28 Command Bridge was a bigger boat, with a 12' beam, while mine is 9.5 and about 28' LOA. In 1993, the 26 Command Bridge was simply renamed the 280 Sedan (and remained that through 1997), and the 'big' 28 Sedan Bridge was renamed the 300 Sedan, and even later, the 320 Voyager.

Mine is powered by a pair of 4.3 Mercs. In 1992 the only power options were twin 4.3's (either Merc or V-P duoprop) or a single 5.7 either Merc or V-P). I see in later years the small boat got a single 7.4 option, so maybe we have the same basic model.

Those models never had any graphics or decals. It's a pretty clean design.

Then somebody wised up. Can't stand the tacky vinyl on mine. Heat gun and plastic scraper here I come.

Congrats, gonna be more enjoyable with the full windows in the cabin, less like a cave and more like indoor space.

Re: Bought the Carver 26 Command Bridge Today!

Thx, Mustang. As you know, every boat is a compromise. I'll probably miss the Four Winns' cockpit space to some extent, but the Carver has enough room back there for a few chairs. The bridge is low enough on this boat (only 3 steps up) that someone lounging up there can actually converse with the folks in the cockpit. What I really intend to do is spend a little less time at one-day raftups and more weekends living aboard. We have some really nice parks with docks to spend a weekend around here. And, I won't have to spend all that time putting up and taking down camper canvas :joyous:

The best part of it is that it was a one-owner boat, and the owner really took care of it. I was handed 22 years worth of repair and maintenance paperwork. They spent a ton of money on preventive stuff every season. The widow replaced the sticky trim switches with brand new Mercruiser switch panels, and replaced the frozen seacock for me after the survey. Aside from fixing the horn, looks like I'll just need to load it up and run it this season (I probably just jinxed myself....). So far, I'm impressed with the workmanship, too. Carvers get somewhat mixed reviews, but I like the way this one is put together.

I just want to get it home and start playing, but my next window of opportunity is Saturday and the weather looks iffy. We'll see what happens.

Congrats on the new boat JoLin. You are going to love the roomy feeling in the cabin with all the windows.

Sounds like the layout will work perfect! I went from express to a bridge boat and wouldn't change a thing. We use that cabin a ton more than the express which means spending more time aboard.

Yup, gotta agree with that. We use our Carver way more than we did the Doral 270 we had previous. The daylight cabin is nice that it's connected to the aft deck.

No, Chris, no lower station. I have the longer starboard side settee instead. And YES, we do have the same boat! The only difference is in the model nameplate, 280 vs 26. Sure glad to hear you like yours. I wrote you one PM. Mind if I pick your brain?
