Didn't mean to jump your thread, You have alot of good info. As to approach the repair that may be required open up a part of the deck, gain access and start your investigation. If there are other less obtrusive means to gain access then do do. After that then we can see whats going on.

Thanks RB, but I have a long way to go, but no rush ;)...remember to leave urself enough time, life sometimes alters the schedule. We'll all be here to help if needed, or cheer u on if u don't!...we may argue about how, when, and why, but everyone has something to offer...collectively, we make an expert :D

Remember to use photobucket to post the pics, just upload to a free account, then paste the img code in the text here...we like lots of pics ;)

Thanks again guys. I'm going to download photobucket and try to post a few pics of my boat just so I can get the hang of it. The boat is at the marina , I keep it stored there in the winter. There is no issues with me working on it doing whatever I need to do. I have power there, The 100 plus inches of snow we got in Narragansett Bay this year is beginning to melt fast! I'm heading down there for a week starting Thursday to try to get a good idea on how big this job is. I have owned boats since 1980. This is my 6th boat. I have owned it for 3 years, I got in in Kingston ON Canada. It had original gel coat on the hull. No bottom paint and not one day in saltwater. I am very mechanical and can fix any motor, but need lots of guidance with this one. It is very comforting knowing there is a group of people like yourselves out there that actually care about what I'm about to take on. I hope I can return the favor one day to someone else out there, Last week I thought this one might be out of my league but now, not so much!

I think I have enough info on the stringers. I went down the marina and cut back an area of plywood. There is one spot on the interior cabin that the plywood had separated from the hull. I cut from the inside stringers to the outside stringer by the chine. The inside stringers are 2x10 and solid as a rock. So solid that when I pulled the plywood off the stringers the screws ripped through the plywood and stayed on the top of the stringers. The outside stringers are not rotted at all but seem like there is movement and not secured to the plywood. I found NO rot and NO moisture anywhere. All bone dry. Here is the problem the stringers have no glass on top of anything. The 2x10 have one layer of glass mat on the sides that has all delaminated. It's flopping. The outside stringers are same way. The underside of the plywood is not glassed, it's bare. All areas where I tap on the stringers I hear hollow spots but if I push hard , the skin hits solid wood. I am posting pics of what it looks like. I am not the first one in here. Somebody before me patched the plywood floor and that's where the issue was. I hope it's not going to be a lost season. I'm ready to get any feedback. Thanks guys.

The above pics are all from the interior. The next pics are from holding my camera under the gas tank from the engine compartment pointing the camera towards the aft cabin. Everything under was tapped with a long extension and is very solid. No issues here.

If the stringers are delaminated, you cant just reattach the roving, at a minimum, the old glass has to be ground/cut out, and reglassed, if the wood is truly good, you can sand it blond again, and reglass it in place...and it would be a good time to bed them in, which they probably weren't, mine weren't.

You have to follow it all the way to adhered glass areas. If that leads you under something you don't want to remove...well, you kinda have to...

Hows the engine bilge, motor mounts?, transom?

The two 4.3's are not mounted on stringers, they have their own wood blocks and are very solid.

Thanks Zool, how would you do this job? Do I have to remove large floor sections or can I cut on either side of the stringers and try to patch plywood in after? What material do I use to bed the stringers and how to I re-glass the stringers after? I do wan't to do this right. Thanks for the reply. I wonder how this happened ? Is this common? I suppose this is better than putting new stringers in right ?

Wow this one looks kinda difficult . It's gunna be pretty hard to get to every where there is delamination without taking the world apart .. The stringers that run next to the chine are so close to the edge that it would be hard not to re-tab the plywood back along the edges ....
Btw , she sure is pretty !
