Can you mix E10 with Rec90?

As many of you know, I had a fuel related issue with the new to me boat. Was convinced it was water in the fuel from the E10, but after verifying with Kolor Kut, there was no water in the fuel. It turns out the fuel filter to the carb was clogged. Easy (and cheap) fix. So I'm back on the water once again (worst 5 days of my life..) :D

So now I have about a half tank of E10 in the girl. We have decided the cost savings of lugging gas from the gas station isn't worth it, so we want to be fueling up from now on at the local marina that uses ethanol-free Rec90. I have heard that there could be issues if you mix the two. What are those issues, and what should I do? Was thinking to just wait until I run out of gas, with a 5 gal can onboard of Rec90, then fill up on the way home. Whaddya think?

Mods; I posted this accidentally in the non-boating section. Please move it. Thanks!

I'm just sort of speculating here, but if the REC90 (we don't have that here, at least not that I've seen) has MTBE in it, then it is possible that when MTBE, Ethanol and water are mixed together they may create a gel or goo that can plug things up.

I thought MTBE was banned 6 years ago?

Rec90 is just a fancy way of saying regular non-ethanol gas. Dunno if that makes any difference in your answer. What does MBTE stand for?

Methyl Tertiary Butyl Ether.

It's the stuff they use in gasoline for the similar purpose as ethanol. However, it was ban, at least in California, after a few years from its introduction as MTBE was found in ground water supply. MTBE is known to carries significant non-cancer-related health risks.

MTBE has been banned in many states, interestingly it?s the ones with fewer E10 problems.

FL. has not banned it, MN has.
