Re: Canada punts Liberals

HM, Canada's sovereignty has been disregarded by
many nations, which include but is not limited to
The Soviet Union, The British, the U.S.A. But that
is another topic.
Strength has never been defined by weakness or the
inability to provide support to issues important to
Canada.
I know you are a Liberal, and respect that.
However, the U.S. is as a divided Country as Canada
when it comes to politics. If the course
that the Liberal government has charted for Canada
does not change, And the absolute power that
the East has in deciding how we are defined as a nation.
Then the party of corruption and greed will cause
the dismantling of our great Country.
But it does appear that LIBERALS are disgusted
with their own party and see that it cannot continue
unchecked. We are in desperate need of
balance and this is our opportunity to make it so.

Canada clean up their border act? How about the U.S? We are not doing anything about illegal immigration.....Dubya's answer is, "Let 'em in". This country needs to stop all immigration, legal or not.....BTW, having spent last weekend in Vancouver, B.C. reminded me of just how many Arab/muslims are right across the border.... .....JK

Well I just got home from the polling station and they wouldn't give me a blue thumb! Oh well the turn out is strong in my area and I hope we give the bums in Ottawa the heave-ho ! My only concern is we'll be doing this all over again in 18-24 months if there is no majority.

You have to remember that the term "Liberal" refers to a political party, and not necessarily to a political philosophy. And certainly the Canuck "conservatives" , while to the right of the liberals, cannot be confused with the right wing in the USA.

That being said, Canadians are people too, and subject to fundamental human nature. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely--The liberal party has been in charge for 12 years, has become corrupted, and in need of a change.

Throw the rascals out, and replace them with a different bunch of rascals. It is not a unique phenomenum, and hardly signals a momentous shift in political philosophy.

That would make a great bumper sticker. :D
How about "Mean People Suck"?

Sorry, couldn't help it. FWIW I get a different take from that one. It's like the ultimate statement of irony, ya know, "you suck for saying I suck".

So QC, Why all the hostility towards Canadians. I don't think they suck. Why do you foster so much hate?

;)

PW, The word "Liberal" not only refers to a
political party in Canada. It most certainly refers
to a political philosophy. This is the 39 election
night in Canadian history. It has shaped into one
of the most important. The poles close in less than
half an hour. If the Conservatives win this
election it will usher in a lead in political
philosophy. Maybe not new but definitely blowing
in a different direction.

Canadians are very proud of their independence and the principle of Canada's sovereignty is important! Canadians may not see the need for a defensive military; but, they see the military as a symbol of Canada's Independence and sovereignty.
Canada served proudly and ably in prior wars and those who served see the current state of the military disgusting. So much has been striped from the military to support social welfare programs that most up here feel it is disgraceful.

I find it hard to understand when others question another's patriotism/loyalty/love of their country. Even some we may loath because of their country's government, as individuals they love their country just as much as any. Iran comes to mind. Attack my leaders just don't attack my country! BTW I'm USA citizen.

AND, I'm pulling for the Conservatives!!

And, if you want a perspective of the health care system -- ask any you will receive. Or, vote Hillary in and get your experience first hand!

NOSLEEP....you sleep well tonight.....in a couple years, we will be hearing the horror stories about the Conservatives, and how they are screwing us.
EVERY political party has done that to Canada...they are no different.
What Canada needs is a whole new gov't....not the NDP, then Libs, then Conservatives....over and over.
Although I do not agree with everything the Green party says, I think it is time to have someone on gov't, like them....so we we could see a different perspective in gov't, from a different party.
You have your right to vote Conservative....I'm not arguing that.
I just don't agree with their agenda...again
Hopefully they will do something GOOD for Canada...lets see what happens

The Conservative had control of the government years ago with Brian Mulroney for quite some time. He got thrown out, (Actually it was what's her name, I forget) in favor of the liberals.

And the pendulum swings again, as it will again and again. And so it goes.

Re: Canada punts Liberals

Although no one can say for sure what one party
or another will bring to the table when forming
a new government. Most of the rhetoric and spin
that is now called fear mongering in regards to
what the Conservatives agenda really is.
I would think that some one from as far West as
your signature says you are B.C., you might be a little
pleased to find that you may now have a greater
voice in the affairs of Canada.
The Green Party did not win a single seat in this
election and is years away from being able to form
any kind of government. Hence I would not waist
my vote on a idea. Although I do like some of the
ideas they have brought forward in their campaign.
If they stick around and become a voice for change
that has some potential, they would likely garner my
support for them.
The fear of this conservative party is unfounded.
However If you like more government and you need
to be supported by it,and prefer a government
that will make your decisions for you. Than you
might be justified in your worry.
This new government will help restore the Canada we
were all once proud of.
Give Stephen a chance, He is young and does not
represent the far right that the Liberal brush
has painted him with.
He will bring less government and a voice for the
interests important to Western Canada and for
national unity.

Actually, it's quite the opposite. The Conservatives must form an alliance with Quebec Seperatists if they want to rule the country, due to the fact that the Conservatives are running a minority goverment, and there's noone else they can ally with.
No offence, but most folks who are posting here are as ignorant of our electoral system (and country) as I am of yours. And labeling "conservative" and "liberal" (whatever that means, outside your borders) to our "Conservative" and "Liberal" parties is evidence of your ignorance. The Conservative party, for example, is a construction of a Western (read Albertan) promotional party ("Reform", then "Alliance") and the old tory party (the "Progressive Conservatives") which had English & Scottish roots, and is therefore still popular here with old Loyalist families. They still call themselves "Tories" as a matter of fact, although whether that's accurate is a matter for debate.
The "Liberals" are historically the lower class' party. Immigrants, Catholics, and military were it's traditional support. Mind you, a lot of that doesn't apply either anymore. But they've been called "Liberal" an awful long time. It's the strong federalist party.

You ARE Right Paul,.......

There IS quite a Difference between our countries,..........

And,... There's Quite a difference between Our Conservative,+ Liberal parties.........

But,.......
It's Still Your Liberal party that Is/Has been Outlawing,+ Registering everybodies Guns...........
Blowing Billions in the process,+ accomplishing Nothing......

And,......... Trying,+ Failing to provide Universal Healthcare.......

And,......Well,... I won't even bother to go into the State of Your Military.........

I think Canada will be a Better Country Today...........

Todays a new day, and a new beginning for Canada.
A day which I am thankful for. We can soon start
repairing some of the damage done to Canada over
the last 13 years of totalitarian rule.

I guess its not hard to tell how disgusted I am
with how this Country has been run.
