Part number 1395-9267.

You could try drying them out and them dripping them in fuel proof lacquer.

Re: carb floats needed

The old foam floats get sunk by alcohol in the fuel. Merc quit using them in the mid 80's somehwhere. The new hard plastic floats are so reliable that neither Mercury or any aftermarket outfit I know of makes them for replacement. (One has a part number listed, but has never made them.)

Best bet is to buy a set of WH anything carbs, like off a 135 from the late 80's on off ebay, to get the floats. Next is to look around for NOS, but plan to pay 15 - 20 bucks apiece if you can find them.

hope it helps

Hmmm. I had to replace a hard plastic one this summer. It seems they seal failed as it is two pieces. Siearra's replacement is foam. I have four carbs on the bench with foam floats - all in good shape.

Are you talking about WH carbs? What is Sierra's part number?

Hmmmm...I could find the gasket set and needle/seat listed. Looks like you've stumbled upon chickens teeth!

If this is your carb, the float is no longer available.

The part # is 1395-9267 - superceded by 1395-7623.

Check this forum out - there were a couple guys that either had them or a good lead...

Like I said. Been there, done that for a few years on this item.

On the WH's, the hard plastic floats are so reliable and so available used that there doesn't seem to be an aftermarket worth going after.

GLM shows a picture and the part number 77280, but the last time I checked they had not made any. A GLM dealer will "order" it for you, and months later find out they don't actually exist. GLM's ETA list on their site lists it as TBA.

Get some bone 135 carbs and rob the floats out of em.

I had to get new floats for my 86 50h motor. The old floats were foam, and the new replacements were plastic. I had to order them direct from a Mercury distributor, as my regular repair shop told me they could not get aftermarket parts for them, and could not order merc parts direct from merc as they will only sell to their distributors.

Look for a local distributor and see if they can help you out. The plastic floats are SOOO much better then the foam ones.

I got mine from BoatFix, but I'd recommend buying elsewhere. (it seemed like it was run out of some guys basement... not very secure). Anyway I replaced the original foam floats in my mercury, and it's run like new ever since. The ones I got were the plastic set from sierra (WM15's I think).
