Finally got around to my "winter project" of cleaning the carbs on my 1971 Merc 800. Better late than never
The carbs are the WMK-2-1 side bowl type.
Got everything taken apart, thoroughly cleaned and now mostly reassembled. Now at a point where I have a couple question I'm hoping can be answered here.
All of the brass plugs had a red threadlock/sealant on them that worked VERY well. My manual says to use Gasketcinch when reinstalling, but when I call around, no one knows what I'm talking about. Any suggestions ?
Secondly, I removed the welch plugs but not sure of the proper way to reinstall them. The existing ones were mangled and covered in some kind of epoxy or glue so I can't use that as a guide on how to reinstall them
. Do they install dome out or dome in ? Again, my manual says to seal the outer edge with Gasketcinch. So the same question, what do I use in place of Gasketcinch ?
Thanks much.
