It's called the dash.

PS: there are even a couple drains near the windshield to handle the occasional spill

WOW you guys are blowing my mind here  I think all the new trucks out are very nice and you seem to get a lot of bang for your buck. Dont get me wrong I dont buy new anymore unless its for work, but the late model vortec 350 was a pos IMHO. Our 97 Tahoe had 3 motors 2 trannys a transfer case and tons of other 2 3 4 500 dolla repairs at only 160k. Worst part is my mello wife drove it never towing WTF! We decided to give to give Chevy one more shot when my parents went to trade in the 2000 2500 suburban that they had since new. Well we bought it for the trade in and it has been the best car we have ever had. It now has 230K and has only had a new fuel pump and a couple small electric window problems. Now I just feel sorry for the sucker that bought my old Tahoe :D

That always Blows My Mind. But, Bowtie guys are always Bowtie guys-REGARDLESS. The Bowtie guys think of engines/trans. as: "Replaceable".

I thought the whole idea was to avoid that?

Rethink????

Care and maintenance will allow any drivetrain to go-endless.

yep, that's exactly where his soda goes right on the dash. you can hear the little sigh of envy when he gets in my '02 F150. LOL funny because if his was 4x4 and a v8 instead of 6 I'd trade him in a heartbeat. LOL

lets see, cupholder, my drink doubles as a testicular cooling device, thats my cupholder. i would rather spend the time rebuilding my rig from the ground up as needed, todays vheicles are of the "disposable society" mind. but a car, dive it for 200,000 miles and dump it, nevermind if the body is good, a new or used engine is almost always cheaper than being saddled with a car payment oner the next few years. why pay 15000 for a 10,ooo car after interest and all when a stock engine is under 2,000????

hahahahaha!! One of my buddies is a die hard GM guy. He couldn't believe I was ticked off when my tranny went out of my Blazer with less than 100K on it.

Check with places like Enterprise Car Sales - they do fleet return sales off leases. Thats where I got my '08 Silverado 2500HD extended cab w/6-litre Vortec. Came with a rack and a cross-bed toolbox. Only had 34K on it. 4:10 locker rear end, rated for 12,000 towing. Even at the "Work Truck" trim level, it has an XM radio and stuff that just a few years ago would have been an "option". I love the rubber floor mats...I have 2 kids.

When I traded in my '08 Subaru for the '08 Silverado, my payment went DOWN by $200 / month. The "Finance" manager came out and grilled me as to why I was trading in a fully loaded Outback for a work truck. I told him I needed a better tow vehicle than the wife's Landcruiser. I didn't mention the intermittent electrical problems....

Most of the rental places only have 3/4T in 2wd :( however it is worth the search.

Yep, That's what mine is. Got it for around 21K with 34,000 miles.

After 15 years of owning nothing but 4WD/AWD vehicles, I realized I might actually need 4WD maybe .05% of the time. I wanted a mule to tow the boat with (and the Company pays for the gas:cool:) so 2WD is just fine for me. I've been reliving my youth lighting them up...I'd forgotten how easy it is to light up the rear tires on a 2WD pickup with a beefy powerplant! I can't wait for June, and the first trip up the hill to Lake Tahoe. Should be no problem with this beast.

When the kids want to go to the snow...we pile into the 2000 Landcruiser.

Unfortunately, 99% of the people can?t or don?t want to do the work. If you where to rebuild my car from the ground up, how much would you charge me for a new suspension, exhaust, motor, transmission, tires and a 5 year / 100,000 mile warranty?

FWIW: Your $10K car costing $15K after interest represents an APR of 18%. At today?s interest rates, I?d expect to pay more like $500-$1,000 in interest on a 5 year note.

that's because you have to haul 10 friends to carry the toy home when it breaks.
:D :D :D :D :D

couldn't resist that one. LOL

seriously 11 seems overkill, I seem to remember them putting that in their ad though didn't they. my truck has a whopping 6.

Re: Chevy truck dealer says I'm stuck in the past.

mudslinger I kind of agree with you. in that we have quite a few vehicles between my buddy and I that we rebuild and keep running but the fact is when it comes to a daily driver it's easier and usually less expensive to just buy a newer car and run it till it pukes and then get another.

if i assume you have a '79 chevy even those are getting hard to find some parts for. would you really want to put 25000 miles a year on it. (that's my annual mileage) and keep scavenging parts. I love building up the old stuff but once it gets to that point we just drive those for fun.

had a 79 gmc, was hard finding parts for. now have a 87 bronco 2, just fixing the mistakes ford made with it, tossed the a4ld trannt for a 5 speed manual, and am dropping in an 8.8 rear end, soon as i get the gears and have the leaf mounts welded on

i'm surprised you wouldn't stay chevy and go for an s10 blazer. i've seen quite a few of those done pretty well.
Bronco II seems like it would be even harder to find parts for. around here anyways. any pics?

11 seems like a lot considering it only can carry 5 people, but the 3 in the console area are nice to have. Its a Toyota... it won't break down! Its not like the new Rams with the heated rear tailgate... :D

got a deal on the bronco, bought it from my friend. as for parts, many parts interchange with the ranger. ill see if i have any pics. as for parts, the portland area has a good supply so far, and a lot of parts can interchange between years

Hopefully you keep the cup-holders filled so you can bribe one of the Dodge guys to pull you home - the newer Toyotas haven't been impressing many people with their mechanical reliability. They do have nice interiors to sit in while you're waiting though!

that's a good one.

ooh so two drink per person, this could be a good thing while traveling. of course it's going to make pit stops last a little longer as well. LOL
