At work the convs. came up about the weapon of choice to carry. I keep a Ruger P94 Stainless 9mm with me at all times. Of course, I have all the paperwork and registration AL requires. Some of the guys think that this is overkill and some carry smaller firearms. My wife keeps a Taurus 38 spl. revolver. My question is what do you carry? I fiqure this will get a mixed bag of opinions. Anyway, thanks for the replys.

Re: Concealed Carry Choice

Water bootle, how do conceal that?? :D

Seriously, my Taurus P92 is a bit large for concealed carry, bulky for a shoulder holster, and too big wear in the small of my back if I'm sitting. For all it's size, the knock down power is disproportionately wimpy, (even though it's loaded with alternating +p+ Hydra-shocks and Black Talons) so I am considering a Glock 40 and a 45 1911. The .45 is slimmer, a tad lighter, and hits hard but moves slow. The Glock 40 is a bit wider than the .45, but lighter and has similar muzzle velocity and pound force impact. I don't consider the magazine capacity that important, because if you need more than one, well, you know.

I am also considering a Bull Dog. These were great little wheel guns, favored by the Son of Sam, the Black Panthers, and I think the SLF. It's a good and accurate little hand full. Recoil is strong, requiring repositioning the pistol after shot, but how many .44 mags you gonna need to use? Small, concealable, and just enough wieght for a .44.

It's too bad I can't conceal my Mossburg M-9 :D

Re: Concealed Carry Choice

I have never fired a 410 pistol, but have always been interested in them. How does it shoot as compared to a 357 or 44?

Re: Concealed Carry Choice

Unlike a few cowboys I know if i point it at someone he is already dead..thats why I don't carry one..easy to carry and easier to say what you would do..wonder how many of you have actually shot at some one...if you wait one sec and hesitate your probably already dead...killing an animal is one thing but pulling a trigger on another human remains to be seen within ones self.

I'm pro gun and have one in house..you break into my house I don't need that split sec..

Re: Concealed Carry Choice

Depends, a little SW .38sp or Taurus 9mm for light situations, Superblack .44 mag for the "tough times" (you know, like deer season :D ).

(I think I heard that somewhere.)

So Come to Jersey and rob someone all the cops are in the dounut shop and the law abiding citizens in this state can't prevent you.

Unless you break into my house then you wont even have a chance to say your prayers you'll being making them in person.

Nothing wrong with CCW'ing a Taurus PT92.. do it when I'm in PA... Depending on what's going on, I'll also carry a GP-100 loaded with 180GR XTP's, EAA windicator .357 for backup (or Makarov)

Re: Concealed Carry Choice

I dont have the concealed carry permit but I do own three pistols.

Ruger .22 compitition in stainless, Nice little gun just a little heavy.

Encore 15" 30-06 with scope. Kicks up a bit but good to 120 yds starts to drop after that proabably due to barrel length.Single shot.

Encore 12" with 45colt/410 fungun to carry in the woods cause it so versitile.Single shot.

Soulwinner...In my opinion the 410 kicks more than the ones you mention but less than the 45 due to powder burn speed and projectile weight. But far less than that 30-06.

Had a few others but since I nolonger have them I'll leave them out.Pistols are fun But I still like Rifles better.

Re: Concealed Carry Choice

Last gun show I went to there was a 410 6 or 7 shot revolver. Thing was HEAVEY. Looked like if you ever had to draw it, you would need to fire, the target would die of fright! :D

My P92 is a great little piece, but on my shoulder it rubs my arm, and if I holster it my pants, I feel like their gonna fall off! Des. Eagle is right out!! I only wear it if I'm serving papers (I'm also a process server) so it isn't that big of a deal. I'm problably just looking for a reason to buy another one. I really want a Barret .50 :D Now that has got to be a blast to shoot, literally :)

Colt Combat Commander .45 ACP. Flat, relatively lightweight, easy to carry, and good knockdown power from that big, fat, slow-moving bullet that transfers all the energy to the perp. And, most importantly as I learned in the service years ago, it will shoot when wet, action full of mud or sand or almost any conditions. Looks like the military may go back to it for these same reasons from what I read. Too many little springs and levers in a double action auto. BTW, I heard that all the Southeastern states honor each others concealed weapons permits. Anybody know if this is true?

Re: Concealed Carry Choice

410? Big? Pa-leeze! Here in Pennsylvania, we all use a double barrel 14" sawed-off 12 ga 00 buckshot... Doh! Did I type that out loud?

Seriously, Beretta 92FS 9mm. Not the greatest dropping power, but effective should the need arise.

gonfishn, yes I have routinely gone through the scenario, and agree anyone who carries should routinely do the same.

braindead0: question: do you have a CCW permit for PA, AND you are a citizen of OH?

Re: Concealed Carry Choice

Licensed in 2 states, carry a Glock 21 .45 ACP. I look at it as proactive life insurance. :D If someone wants my wallet, car, or another 'thing' I most likely wouldn't risk a confrontation....but if someone tries to harm myself or my family, it'll be the last mistake they ever make.
