Thanks KB and SW,
After doing some looking, I see you're right about being able to carry out here.
Depends on the county. Thanks for taking the time. It's appreciated. Always learning new things. :) :)

Re: Concealed Carry Choice

Hi Homerr....

I don't know about "ALL" cops but I know that when I was a cop (about 15 years ago) I got nervous whenever I encountered a citizen with a handgun outside his own property or home. That was before Virginia was a "right to carry" state (thank you Oliver North).

I have a different outlook now as do many of my cop friends. A citizen should be allowed to defend him/herself. There was uproar when the laws were first changed. "There're going to be shootings in parking lots over spaces!" Quite the opposite occured. Folks tend to be more civil when faced with the possibility that others are armed. Street crime dropped dramatically. Shootings, even in defense, are very rare.

Carphunter:

Great piece... I carry some hollow points (hydrashocks?) that a cop buddy of mine gave me. It blow them up about once ever six months and get some more. Thankfully I've never had to shoot at anything but paper since leaving the department.

As I said... I despise the idea of having to use a weapon against another human. Given the choice of my survival or that of my family or even the little ol' lady in the grocery store parking lot I know I've got the training and skill to do it right.

As many fights as I've been in I can honestly say I've never struck anyone in anger. I would never shoot a weapon in anger.
