Re: Connect second computer to the internet?

Cables, multiple routers, WoW.
I’m scratching my head here on all the complexity people are introducing in to this. We have 4 laptops, a desktop with 2 printers attached, 3 smart phones, a wii and 2 Ipods connected to the internet thru one Motorola wireless router.

It took maybe 10 minutes to setup the router and the network. It took another 20 minutes to enter the WEP Key and connect the various components to the network. Pretty simple

Every situation is different...If the OP's main stuff is on one side of the house and the crafting machine and second computer are in the same room on the other side of the house two wireless routers in a wireless bridge are the cheapest/fastest way to do it...If the crafting machine needs a wired connection and its impossible to pull a wire as it was in my case then its the only way...

One router and do the rest with inexpensive wireless adapters. USB ports have been std. on computorized equiptment for over 10 years now.

If the crafting machine they have is similar to the one my wife has, it does not have a usb port and the only way to get it online was with a wired solution. I just used a wired connection for my new Dish DVR as well, because I refuse to pay what dish wanted for their wireless adapter. Everything else I have is connected wireless.

Nope, allot of the crafting machines as well as embroidery machines run proprietary operation systems and it was not common to see USB ports on them until recently, the operation system on my wife's embroidery machine is actually based on Linux and the crafting machine is a derivative of an old Mac system.

Re: Connect second computer to the internet?

My wife's machine is a Cricut and it requires a USB A/B cable to connect to the computer. The end that goes to the computer is kind of flat and the end that plugs into the craft machine is more square looking if that makes sense. This was actually the easiest part of the whole operation and we didn't have any problems getting it to work once we got the computer connected to the internet.
Thanks again to everyone that took the time to offer their suggestions and advice. I appreciate every bit of it, even the stuff that was miles over my head.:)
