I wish I could find a picture before we worked on the interior....but we didn't buy it as pictured above....thats just what it looked like when we stripped it.

The side panels actually have vinyl as well (where the motor control would be), but they were put on after the photos.

Thanks for the compliments. Hopefully I can get it in the lake this weekend!!

Looks really nice! You'll have to give us a video tour of the boat and some performance vids to drool over...I bet that 115 pushes it around nicely. Now that I've gotten a majority of the garbage I needed to get done, I can think about getting back to my boat...lots of motivation here and elsewhere.

Last year on the last time out, the boat ran 54 mph on a flat section of the lake, and thats on GPS. We were able to do this after rebuilding the fuel pump....amazing how much better the motor runs, and how much more efficient it is when fuel is getting into the cylinders!

That included myself, my wife, three very young kids, and 18 gallons of fuel (plus safety gear).

I will have to GPS it again this year.....if the lakes ever get back to normal levels.....our usual lake is still 13-feet over full pool.

I will try to figure out how to post video once we take it out....

Thanks again for the kind words.

Here is a photo of the interior....actually on the first day we got the boat:

In the backround you can see our old boat as well....thats the boat that got us into the hobby. A free 14-foot aluminum boat with a 9.9 tiller....it was slow with all of us in it.

Last few items to do!! Solder up a few new wires for the bilge pump, and wash the boat!

We were going to take it out today, but the weather looks bad....tomorrow looks better!

Well she floats...and runs! We took the boat out today and it ran well, nice and smooth....no fears of the motor falling off.

When we launched the boat, the engine didn't want to go into reverse....but forward gear was fine....not too big of a deal right?

So we ran off down the lake towards our favorite swimming area. As I pull the throttle back to slow down and then into neutral, it won't go......trying again, this with an expletive (that has to help right?) it still won't go.

Armed with the knowledge that the boat won't start while the controller isn't in neutral, we ran back to the dock.

The plan was to get close to the no wake zone near the dock and kill the motor, anchor, and adjust the shift cable. I couldn't get my fingers into the cable adjustment area without tools. The local Fish and Wildlife officer was nice enough to tow us back to the ramp.

We loaded the boat, and drove the 20-25 minutes home trying to figure out what happened.

Pulled in the driveway, pop the cover off of the motor and start digging for the shift cable. I pulled the throttle cable off, and walked up to try the shifter again to put the shift cable bolt in a better place for me to access.......it shifted as normal. Now I was dumbfounded.

Looking at the motor my wife noticed the low throttle adjustment wasn't right....I look at it, and its adjusted all the way in, not allowing the motor to come back to a proper idle, and holding the shift cable in the drive position.

Guess who forgot to tighten that pesky lock bolt.......So for the cost of fuel driving from the lake home, I fixed it, and we might even run back out there after the kids nap!

Despite the difficulties that are now fixed, I think that qualifies this thread to be moved to the completed projects section!!!

Actually I think you would have been able to restart it fine. The neutral switch is typically related to the handle position so as long as the control box was in neutral it probably would have started regardless of whether it actually was. Probably still not a good gamble.

We don't move threads to the completed project section. Those are copies of very well documented threads that have been edited of all the chit chat.

That was the problem - since the throttle cable wouldn't allow the controller to return to the neutral position, I wouldn't have been able to restart the motor....
