Good day ... i have a 1988 johnson GT150 GT VRO and am trying to determine if it is a looper or crossflow. I want to check the shift rod height and they are different depending on the type .. I also looked in the FAQ and could not find te shift rod height for this year. They ad it listed for earlier but not the 88 (or I could not find it  )

The model number is: J150STLACA

Any help is def appreciated

Thanks!!

Re: Cross-Flow or Loop-Charged?

according to the parts chart, it has the large deflector ridge on top of the piston which makes it a crossflow.

Shift rod height. 22 1/16 +- 1/32 "............... This was out of a '89 service manual.

1979 thru 1988 - All V/6 Crossflow models = (L) 22-1/16" - - (XL) 27-1/16" plus/minus 1/32". Have shift rod in neutral.

A rule of thumb so to speak of the early crossflow/looper difference...........

Three aluminum carburetors = Crossflow.

Six plastic carburetors = Loop Charged.
