Boat was made by traveler out of Tifton Ga have look on internet not a lot of info manufacturer out of business

This pix for your 1st post looks like the white & blue were applied AFTER the boat was assembled & the rub rail was installed:

So whatever it is, if you want to reuse the boxes, you've got to get down to good fiberglass to tab them back in.

But yep, that's for all after you get done checking below deck.

That's where I would start, it'll get rid of the majority of your wet/damp decking and give you a good look see at what you have below deck. If you need to do more later you can probably just lift the cap off with the compartments attached. This would be if you need to replace stringers.

Re: Deck coating

Thats the problem jig there is no cap the gunwales are single layer fiberglass I was not sure if I cut out around the lockers that it would be Ok to tab back in that far away fro the sides for strength

At the risk of terrifying you with the words 2 part expanding urethane foam, I'll show you the strongest fix for that:

The foam will support the old lip and the new decking at the joint.

From what I can see in the pics and by your description of the gunwales your boat looks/sounds like a very light construction (not heavy duty) and was more than likely designed to be supported by 2 part expanding urethane foam. I would strongly suggest using the 4 lb. density for extra strength and improved water resistance over the 2 lb. density.

Re: Deck coating

Describe what you have there Minch.

Is everything glassed in and solid? Is the foam dry to the bottom?

Re: Deck coating

You can test the foam by using a 2 inch PVC pipe cut with some teeth to take a core sample right down to the hull. I didn't see evidence of water in your close up, it looked more like fuel leakage and a chemical reaction with your foam(black gooey area). You underside looks rather good compared to what most others boat look like. How the transom rot down deep where water collects in your bilge area? You have a very nice looking boat there!!!

Re: Deck coating

Hey Minch, your stringers are the box stringers in this pic.

The 1x's are nailers to fasten the decking down to. Your hull and deck get a lot of support from the foam.

Since you have water and sludge/crud at the bottom of the foam I suggest taking it all out, then you be able to get a better look at everything.
