I use Intellicast. It looks like it's not raining in downtown Birmingham. But the rain appears to be moving south to north. If it would only move a little east, the track would be in the clear for a while.

GA, since you live so close to the track I suppose you often attend the the spring/fall race?

If the rain stops(?) the track drying will be for the Nationwide race due to start at 3PM. And no lights means only about a 5 hour or less window to squeeze it in. Not really looking good. :grumpy:


Musky - I never attended a race there. It's just too danged big and except for a few moments of mayhem, kinda boring. In the past anyway. My sister lives near Bristol and that's the track for me. Non-stop action and you can see everything. If you aren't afraid of heights. The best seats are way up there.

I plan on going to Atlanta one of these days, too bad they cut back to one race.

I've driven down a 1/2 dozen times for the fall race. It is a big track. You basically watch them come out of turn 4, into the tri oval, thru 1 and 2 and wait until they come back around again. Watch the jumbo screens while they're in the back stretch. Since they were always bunched up, you wouldn't see a car until the pack came around. The best part was when they came into the pits. We were about in front of pit stall #4. Cool to hear all the guns and see the crews run around....

Bristol would be cool. The grandstand does look pretty steep....... I guess it's pretty loud there.....

Looks like the heavy rain has moved off. I haven't heard anything about N-Wide yet.

At Bristol - Don't look down. It's loud, but it's a nice loud. The drag strip when Top Fuelers run, especially if it's overcast with low clouds holding sound in, earns the name Thunder Valley. Your spine tingles.

Race buddy is up on nascar.com.

ESPN talking heads are touting the "Air Titan" track dryer and how good it is. A flat bed with three huge construction sized air compressors with a hose to the blower head. nascar ought call the Dyson guy to make a "nascar Animal" - It would suck by design. :laugh:

I went to the sports book today and as an inexperienced bettor, all of the monitors with different bets and scurrying of people made me walk back out.

I was going to put $20 on Verrazano to win & $20 on a top 3.
