I bought some gasket material for my 74' Johnson 6hp T-stat cover, cut out almost a perfert gasket, installed it and did a tank test. There is no t-stat in there. But my new t-stat, gasket etc will be here next week. I cranked it up in the tank and for what ever reason it takes it about 1/2 minute or so for the water to start coming out the exhaust. Is that ok?? Does that first time I crank it after its been sitting up a few days. Runs fine. I still have just a few drops of water leaking from the side of the housing between the gasket and the housing. But very little but still its leaking. Should I take it apart and put some gasket sealer on both sides of the gasket or will it seal itself up overnight??? Fishermanms
