Hi all, I need to determine the year of this model. I am getting returns of 1982 but not sure?

It was not pumping water. Due to an oxidized bolt there is a spacer plate on which the water pump sits that cannot be removed until the bolt is drilled. i have never seent his set up before of having a needle bearing directly underneath the water pump. You will also notice a metal compartment beneath the water pump on the upper leg has broken in some places, Is this part still availabe? Any assitance appreciated,

Paul

1982, bearing carrier in no longer available and you are S.O.L due to improper disassembly technique. I do not see any evidence of heat to aid in bolt removal, and you separated the lower unit in the wrong place. The bearing carrier comes off with the lower unit. You therefore must have forced the driveshaft with the water pump key in place out the bottom of the carrier. You must not have extensive experience disassembling outboard lower units because many of them have drive shaft thrust bearings.

Also, maybe it's just an optical illusion, but it looks like you cut the shift shaft?

A young chap has bought this boat and discovered it does not pump water. I suspect this has something to do with the previous owner wanting to get rid of it. There are 6 bolts that hold the lower leg to a spacer/ water pump unit to the upper leg. One of the bolts had already been broken and unfortunately this has oxidized and is holding the spacer/ water pump unit to the upper leg. It will have to be drilled.

The gear shift shaft is not cut. The thread appears bent slightly though. It has a small double ended joiner to connect it to the rest of the shift shaft in the upper leg.

My only exposure to these lower legs has been with Force/Mercury/Johnson. They didn't have a separate spacer section that housed the pump. Also, they did contain the thrust bearing in the lower leg. Suzuki is a first for me and different.

What does S.O.L.mean?

Now, can anyone offer assistance here? I need the year or a hyperlink so I can look at the proper schematic of the lower leg unit. Is it a matter of finding a lower leg unit for sale?

IGNORE - INFORMATION FOUND ON SCHEMATIC

I have found a manual on Browns Point Marine. If you look at my pictures, the flat bearing and was sitting in the lower leg. On top of it were the 2 washers. I cannot see these parts in the manual for this engine. Can anyone shed light on this?
