Re: Engine mount repair
So I stopped at boat today after work to do some more investigating and I think I found the problem spot.About 3' up from the the crack on the inside there is a hole in the glass and water coming out,did some poking around in there and I believe there is wood in there(at least thats what it looks and feels like)it is dark colored and wet but is solid.Next I went to outside boat at the spot of crack and drilled some holes in the keel, water came out and it felt hollow so now I beleive my repair will be a little more involved. Im thinking I have to cut keel open on outside, put in new wood, grind on both sides of keel and glass over. My questions are can I do a repair like this from the inside so I dont disturb the gelcoat,if so how is this done, and if not is my plan for outside repair correct, and do I cut the keel flush with the hull or do I just cut the top off?? Also had another question on diff subject my gas tank I removed was 100 gal and does not fit through the access that is there for it(my uncle had them put in bigger tank when they were building boat) so had to take out rear bulkhead and the 3" strip of the deck that seperates the access panel and engine compartment to get it out.I have no need for a tank this big but its in good shape so I was wondering if its possible to cut end cap off tank, cut length to fit in access and have end welded back on possible? If not wanted to start looking on CL for smaller tank. Thank you for everyones help.
