Re: Engine stalling seconds after starting

...Why do you think the boat will keep running if past the idle position within the brief start-up.In other words I can make the boat rev at 1500 all day smooth as silk just not at idle.....

Faulty IAC valve. (Idle Air Control). Or a broken/burnt wire going to it.

Well, eventually every item in your engine will be something that someone had go bad. Here is a link to the OEM service manual. Read it and follow the troubleshooting advise, or you will be hit and miss for ever.
Yes, it will take special tools to test things.

Don is correct in following the flow chart or you'll be emptying your wallet. Achris is probably right about the idle air control valve, but all these systems are testable (is that a word)? Take your time with a voltmeter and an ohmeter and you'll find it.

Re: Engine stalling seconds after starting

Here is the update Replaced Iac motor and Tps sensor to no avail.Checked or bypassed every sensor to no avail.Put computer on IAC motor value and it was 170 when it is supposedly should be around 40.This value was measured with ignition on, and with motor running ,for that brief 5 seconds before buzzer than engine shutdown.Thought I should try another IAC motor, installed it and the boat idled with no buzzer for 5 minutes(the value of the new IAC was 50 when i installed second time)(when it started and continued to run) took lines off boat touched throttle to reverse and the buzzer sounded and the motor cut out.Now it will do the same routine, start for 5 seconds ,buzzer, then motor die.HelpHow can I check my ECM out of the boat someone must do it.

Re: Engine stalling seconds after starting

It was closed because he opened another thread http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=519105 and it got confusing to try and figure out what was happening between the two....

Would be a good idea to closed this thread again....

Chris....

Thanks Chris, now I know. and it's closed again.
Had they both not been do long, they would have been merged together.
