A hose cannot supply all the water the pump will pull like if the boat was sitting in the water. Put it in the water and test

I see, well I was out a couple days ago and she was overheating. Lots of steam coming out of the pipes!

OK, thought you replaced the impeller because you were posting about its location yesterday

Impellers are wear items. replace it. Thermostats are failure items. Pull it and test it if in doubt. Also note that there are lots of ways to over heat motors - blown head gaskets, pieces of the impeller blocking passageways, lots of scale build up in the thermostat housing - just a few.

Sorry no, I only wanted to confirm because I went to the marine shop and the lady was showing me an impeller that was on the engine and I had thought it was in the lower unit so just wanted to confirm that this lady was out to lunch!
