I knew he would touch it, but I didn't take him with me to prevent that. He HAD to touch it. Its programmed into them to be inquisitive. Its a learning thing.

Im not sure you understand what im saying. So here goes again. we watch our kids as best we can. But when I was about 3 my girl cousin my brother and i were playing outside with moms watching through window. Their was a snake on the ground, I had heard of rattlers but never seen one, to me It was just a snake, I was waving my foot over it picking on it brother said leave it alone its a rattler. well I didnt have to mind big brother, cousin got on top of the dog house. brother went in and got mom , who smoked my butt.
I learned to mind big brother that day.
But my point is I still remember, clearly, was it the butt smoking or the snake, But if I can remember it 55 yrs later something made an impression. and I also think I was old enough to learn a lesson, and did, at 3, so the lessons of life should start early.

when kids come to my house I am constantly amazed at the mothers and fathers that turn thier young kids loose to explore, after all they are in the country. I always call the kids back to me and sternly caution them about the dangers of snakes , the bull, or the billy goat.

Thats my last say so on the matter.

.

But if it had been my rattlesnake instead of just paint... Is my point, They have to learn to mind, sometimes thier life is on the line. Im not a hard a$$, I have a grandson who is comming 2 now, cute as a bug, but he is learning to mind pa pa, and we are buds.
