Ever try this 2-cycle oil? ALL IN ONE MIX...

So was at Lowes the other day killing some time, and happened to see this All in one 2-cycle oil. One pre measured mix works in all ratios. So you only have to keep one container of mix gas for everything.

Seems a little too good to be true so I passed on it, but was intrigued at the idea.

Anyone try this stuff?

ps. sorry to start an oil thread.

I have it. I don't think it's designed to be replacing all ratios, I think it's designed that you can mix it at your desired ratio and it's good for all small 2-stroke engines. There are some oils that are filled specifically for 32:1, 50:1, etc. I'm pretty sure you're still supposed to mix at the proper ratio.

Unless I'm understanding it incorrectly.

Only just recently I learned two stroke oil for water cooled engines is different than two stroke oil for air cooled engines. Possibly this is what they are referring to.

any oil can be mixed at whatever ratio needed...... That package may as well say all condiment hot dogs..... one pack of hot dogs that can be served with catsup, mustard, relish, or bbq sauce.

Can you say advertising gimmick!

Thanks for clearing that up, It's a little confusing because the container premeasures the amount of oil to use for a gal of gas. Definitely should not have that feature in the bottle without better labeling.

Not true.
I have bought oils that specifically say not to mix at greater than 24:1 ratio.

The bottles pre-measure cup is 2.6 oz. Used in one gallon of gas = 50:1 ratio (the lowest gas:eek:il ratio used by 2-strokes). You're supposed to fill the pre-measure cup enough times to attain your proper mixture.

I don't see TC-W3 anywhere on the bottle, so I would not recommend it, even as a test, in a water cooled outboard.

yeah I knew something like this would be posted up....... I should have said "most" or "the better" oils.....

I have no doubt that some manufacturers have reasons, good or bad, that their oil should not be used at certain ratios....

Any oil that I would ever consider buying can be mixed at any ratio..... lucas, amsoil, golden spectro, maxima, yamalube, etc, etc.

16:1, 24:1, 50:1.... whatever is specified for the equipment.... a possible exception is 100:1.... I'm leery (maybe unreasonable tho) of running anything that lean even if the manufacturer says it's ok..... Not many oils that I've noticed state that they can be mixed that lean..... possibly just because they aren't tested at that ratio...

My understanding is that the mix ratio on the bottle is MAX ratio that you can mix it at. For example a 50:1 bottle of oil is good for 16:1, 24:1, 50:1, etc. but NOT for 100:1

Two stroke golf carts are spec'ed at 128:1 but most run them at 100:1 mix. I've not had a problem mixing any of the better air cooled oils at 100:1. I tried running a tank or two using outboard oil and the results where less than stellar. My daughters complained it smelled like the boat and it didn't burn as clean

In most modern 2 strokes it's the oil that determines the mix ratio not the motor.
Manufacturers recommend a mixture ratio based on the recommend oil.
Some oils have better lubrication properties and can be mixed leaner. Read the oil's specifications for mixing.
That being said older motors which used bushings instead of bearings require heavier lubrication.

Or screw it all and build a lightweight 4 stroke weed whacker!
