Hey guys.. heres the deal. just bought a 20' cc about a month ago and finally got in into the water monday for the fist time. it went well, beter than i expected.. heres my concerns.
the motor is a 1987 evinrude 175 vro.. i disconnected the pump, plug the line at the pump and mixing gas and oil in tank..
motor ran rough.. at first i couldnt get the motor over 2 grand.. then i realized if i put the trim all the way down, i can get the boat to plane.. toped out at around 4 grand ( that seems low).. is that a saftey feature on the trim and tilt so you know your sucking up water? it seems as there is a point where the trim and tilt it alot more sensitive and when i get into that area ( all the way down), i can get the motor up to 4 grand... follow me?
also, i kept having to adjusting the choke every time i turned the motor off.. it seems that when i was moving at a slow speed 1-2 grand, it would have trouble staying primed.. maybe i have a loose clamp and im suckin air somewhere? or spark? carb rebuild?
im going to check compression today.. but i also want to make sure all the cylinders are getting spark.. how do i go about doing that?
please help!!
