ok can any one answer this one
started up motor advanced to wot motor bogged placed hand over lower carb throat and the speed picks up. is this due to a fuel air leak????
Have you checked the inlet into the bottom carb for security??? It "could" be pulling some air if cracked or loose.
This could also indicate a plugged main jet, which I would most likely pull asap and check.
Do I understand correct, that you replaced the VRO??? or just the hoses??
I have replaced all hoses from tank to carbs also new tank.
did not replace the vro just put in a kit for the fuel side had a part on the gas side that was broke and replased it.
How do I go about pulling main jet and how do I check if its plugged???
my jets are not adjustable
I pulled parts view and prats list from evinrude to try and find the jets but they only show orifice idle, air bleed and a orifice plug
I know it's not adjustable, but you should have a high-speed orfice in the bottom of the bowl...should be under a plug on the side or front of the bowl at the bottom. There will be an "Orfice plug" to remove, then the main jet will be behind that.
ok that I beleave is the plug that is located in the front of the bowel.
so i remove the plug screw, the washer and than the orifice correct? what is it that we are looking for after i remove the orifice or is just removing the orifice and replacing it?
pulled both carbs this is what i have found so far:
1) upper carb main jet ok but float assy shot
soaking now will rebuild
2 lower carb mainjet stuck in carb had to get new bowel float assy ok working soaking and than rebuild
3 I bought new main jets just in case and they gave me the wrong ones any idea what they should be?
I cant read the one from upper carb looks like 54?
any thoughts on this???
ok I got the main jet out of the lower bowel it looked clean (now I have a extra bowel) any way will rebuid carbs tomorrow. oh buy the way i id. the jet # they are 38D for the main and 40 for the air im going to replace all jets.
So my question is do you think the float on the top carb was my problem?
It "could" be...you need to call a dealer and check on what the stock jets were if you haven't already.
What about the float that is "shot"???what are you refering to?
