I recently tore apart my DT2 for a rebuild after an extreme overheating (melted a hole in my internal gas tank:%) & found salt caked in the water jacket preventing proper cooling...thus the overheating.
Anyway, I've been using any sharp object around to pick away at it...but is there a better way for salt removal to prevent damage to the aluminum by crude tools?
Also, how long is long enough to flush in fresh water to prevent salt caking? I am the third owner of the motor & would love to believe that I've thoroughly flushed... but without a tell-tale pisser on the DT2, it's really hard to monitor water circulation & flushing.
Any suggestions?
