Re: food
Hmmmmm....pork shoulder......so many ways.....let's see.....bad thing with shoulder....so many good things you can do with it......good part....picking the best one.
First....season the thing with what ya' like....garlic salts, pork seasonings....what ever floats your gullet. Then, make a mix of Budweiser and....oh...sorry....scratch the Bud.....you do Bud while doing the other stuff...cooking stuff....like....OK!....Put the shoulder in a large pan and throw some stuff on it like Itilian Dressing, merinade of your choice, pork is good. No kidding, I did a mix of Bud and dressing and it turned out great.
First thing in the morning, get the smoker out and fire that muther up. Get it hotted up and put the shoulder in there. Be prepared for a long cook. But very worth while. My smoker has a temp gage on it. If I keep it at the ideal temp....it's marked "LOW", "IDEAL", "HOT"....whatever I have in there will cook slow and tasted great.
I'll soak some wood chips, mesquite, apple, whatever, in water, (wonder how it would do if I soaked it in Bud??)and throw that in there after the meats been cooking for a while. Pick the taste of wood to your choice.
Now here's a good thing to do. About two to three hours before it's done, coat the meat with Honey. Let it cook a while and coat it again. (I'M KILLIN' MYSELF HERE...YA' KNOW THAT DON'T YA'?)
Serve with more Honey, Potatoe or Macorroni salad, baked beans, HOT BREAD WITH GOOD COUNTRY BUTTER!!
AARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!
Think I'll go get a Twinke......
