OK, I guess I have to deal with a big fuel bill, thanks for the input, you guys that reply are appreciated! One more, I only get about 30 mph out of my 88 Force 120 pushing an 18.5' bayliner capri, I thought I'd do better.

Re: force performance?

Hi Bassy Jr

First off, you do not had a 1988 120hp motor.
They did not make the 120 hp model until 1990.
So you motor is newer than you thought.
If you can find the model number and serial number, post them, and we try to pinpoint the year for you.

As for the performance and fuel issues:

What are the highest rpm you can reach with your motor?

And, a worn out fuel pump can leak fuel into the engine, causing it to use more than it should.
The good news is that the rebuild kit is under $20.

Re: force performance?

What is your rpm and speed (gps?)Speed and rpm are critical in figuring where you are at.Is prop in good shape? How is the compression?
Is the antivent plate about even with the bottom of the boat?
Are the throttle plates opening all the way?
