My Fuel Gauge is stuck on "E". When I get a chance I plan to troubleshoot it in this order:
-check all fuses
-check power at sender and its connections
-check power at gauge and its connections
-lastly pull sender and manually move the swing arm and check its connections

Would add to that or change its order?

Fuel gauge is a ground out like most of the others. Constant +12vdc at the gauge; check this.

Sending unit is the ground. Check the feed side of the sending unit for a good ground. If OK, ground out the gauge side of the sending unit. Your fuel gauge should now read full meaning the sending unit is probably bad. If not, either the gauge or the sending wire to the gauge is bad.

Ground out the sending side of gauge. If gauge reads full, it is the sending wire, if not, it is the gauge.

If determined that the sending unit is faulty, check it with an ohm meter. With float arm in full position, should be about 30 ohms. With float arm in empty position, should be about 240 ohms.

There should be NO power (battery + ) going to the sender. ! !

Last time I found that,I was in very close quarters with my face at the tank, and got VERY nervous.

The link above will send you in the right direction.

Fixed it this evening. The Pink wire from the sender to the guage was loose at the back of the guage. Gotta love a dash that you can lay on your back and work on the whole back side of the dash and the main fuse block at one time.

Thanks for the help!
